Some people gather books, other gather books for peoples needs

This is the ability to change people

The highest level of paradise is for the people who understand

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) had the most complete speech

When people had the ability to learn, they could summarise work

There are people who do things that don’t ask for money (religious duties)

Where are those people who adorn their hearts?

The word Ikhlas comes from a root to mean pure

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Sincerity is everything.”

Those who seek the countenance of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala means the glory of seeing Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala, after the Day of Judgement. “Ruiya” comes from wara, which means to see.

No ones worship will be accepted that’s not sincere, Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala will be pleased with someone who prays and pays their zakat

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala places sincerity in whoever heart he wills

Ways of testing your soul in learning, knowledge, to see if you can attain a great station with Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

You desire a place in people’s hearts (This is very bad.)

The worst type of Nifaq is to do actions when people are watching (when its so people see you do good action.)

When the people are mentioned he is happy

Takhli is to remove bad, tahali is to attain good actions

He (peace and blessings upon him) attained Human perfect but only Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala is absolutely perfect

Wayil (woe) is a valley in hell (as in the verse “Woe upon those who perform prayers.” Sura 107.4)

“With their prayers they are neglectful 107.5”, If the word was fi (in) instead of min (from) then we would be in trouble

The ones who are save are the one who have made their “A’kl” their amir

We need to fortify the walls of the heart

Satan submitted to the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) but didn’t become he follower.

Jafar As Sadiq (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) was riding on a horse and passed by a man who was drunk, reciting poetry. He heard what this man was saying and came down from his house and began to write it down, when asked why he did that. He said that this is from the manners of student

When 70 of the Quranic reciters were massacred, one of them who were killed said, “By the Lord of the Ka’ba, I have succeeded.”

Khalid ibn walid (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) didn’t have a hand span on his right leg, left leg, right arm, left arm, and chest without a wound on it, in the path of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala. He was sad that he didn’t die as a Martyr one his friends said, “The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) that you are the sword of Allah, how can you die?”

Avoid places of corruption.

Don’t put yourself in that place that would cause people to think badly of him, this is a mercy towards people

If you love someone, you don’t notice his or her faults

Backbiting is worse than Zina, because it is related to honour

To indicate with your eyes can be a sign of gheba (backbiting)

Our foundation duty as believers is to remove people from the darkness to the light

The means has to be justified and the end has to be justified

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said not to waste water even if you are at a riverbank

Muslims are people of principle and truth
The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) was always in deep thought, he was concerned about the people entering the deen

Between ignorance and extremism


For the sake of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala, I have come a long way

What does being Muslim mean?

How do we face the difficulties in this country? We submit to will of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

We have been able to build mosques and buildings here

We have safety and security

Remove, some the black clouds that have gathered

He hopes that we become people who love for the sake of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

The world’s eyes are upon us

We shouldn’t be afraid of answering the questions that are being asked

Islam is submission and we are a peaceful people. Salam is an abode of peace and from this peace is our deen

How do we retain our identity?
How do we create a Muslim environment?
Your house should be a Muslim house

Ismail (upon him peace) commanded his family to pray

Not everyone is against us

The Sheikh was impressed with some people who he has met, they are concerned about us

Their harm is not limited to themselves, they are affecting us as well

Our nation is a middle nation, we should be a balanced community

We need to be balanced and know that balance is hard to maintain

We should not be extreme or arrogant

Don’t make this deen hard

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) is a mercy to the worlds. How can we replicate it? By patience and piety and then it needs to be maintained

A mercy doesn’t change nor anger

He (peace and blessings be upon) is a mercy to animals

He said (peace and blessings be upon), “Be with the people with the best of character.”

Have you not seen the fruits it has different colours and tastes

There are changes from night to day, from darkness to light

The middle path is difficult, the naafs inclines to the extreme, doing too much
or too little

Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “ The deen is between doing too much and too little.”

This is what destroyed the people before us

Extremism comes from ignorance

We need to follow the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon) character.

The definition of the Prophets (peace and blessings be upon) character is mercy

What is distinct is his patience, tribulation from the people is normal. Be patient forgive and overlook.

He (peace and blessings be upon) called people to the deen. After Ta’if he (peace and blessings be upon) prayed for the people who hurt them. Mercy isn’t punishment

A female dog gave birth of the road whilst the army were passing. He (peace and blessings be upon) appointed a guard to protect the puppies. The dog was suckling her new born

At the conquest of Mecca he (peace and blessings be upon) said, “I hold no blame on you today and you are all give amnesty.”

Speak beautifully to people not just to Muslims but also to all humanity, treat people with the best of character

Recognise differences, if we don’t recognise them, we won’t be able to raise ourselves up

Part of Allah’s Subhanu wa Ta’ala creation is difference. Fruits come from the same source but they are different

You can see the diverse colour and Satan wants everything to be the same

We need to have a culture of tolerance

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) stood up when the dead body of Jewish man was being taken for burial. When asked why he stood up, he said (peace and blessings be upon), “Isn’t he a soul?”

Your Lord is one your father (Adam (upon him peace))is one, no Arab is better than a non-Arab except in Taqwa

This world is for the worshippers of Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

It is a right of the people to have human rights

Human dignity

Humans are like teeth on a comb

Call people with gentleness, debate with people in a beautiful way. There are good ways to talk to people

Lands belong to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and his servants, are the servants of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala, you can reside anywhere

Know that your blood and property are sacred. He (peace and blessings be upon) said at the final pilgrimage, he (peace and blessings be upon) encouraged men to treat their women well, he removed interest from himself (peace and blessings be upon peace and blessings be upon) and his uncle Abbas (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him). He (peace and blessings be upon) removed the blood writ

People have right and these should be represented. In the Muslim lands, other religions used to have their own courts, Jews had their own courts. Leave them to their own judgements but if you judge do it right

As long as breaches didn’t occur, non-Muslims were left alone

Being a good citizen is part of Islam

Accept other people and be good to people

Co-operate with non-Muslims when they do good but in war but in good behaviour

In a positive way not a negative way

Tolerance is a positive

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) said, “Love for your brother, what you love for yourself.” He (peace and blessings be upon) also said if he was called to an alliance he would’ve gone to it because it helped the weak and suppressed.

He (peace and blessings be upon) didn’t want to fight people in Mecca

We are looking for common factors, we desire good for each other
Our deen is tolerance

How can we hold onto our deen? Strongly

The Muslims are neither oppressors nor people who hurt each other

He (peace and blessings be upon) let Ethiopians dance in his Masjid, “Leave them, this is one of their practices.” He (peace and blessings be upon) said to Umar (May Allah be pleased with him)

We need to teach the prayer, in our houses

Ibn Tayyimma said, “Jihad is defined as all good actions.”

Stop oppressors, a Muslim lives in peace with others

A Muslim isn’t the angry one, he (peace and blessings be upon) advised a man to remain quiet

How do we realise this tolerance?
Return harm with good, good and bad are not the same
He (peace and blessings be upon) forgive and overlooked

A Jew wanted to see if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) had patience and when he saw it. The Jew said, “I saw that you had all these qualities except one.”

Islam is not monopoly for one nation, or for example we own it. Its for everyone

Ignorance is of two kinds one that someone is aware of and one that is compounded

Ignorance is the opposite of intelligence

They learn a little and to extremes, by being judgemental

Fiqh is a craft it takes time and tools to acquire

If they study law, they can be a judge

The Abyssinian king was just and the deen entered that country

It’s like the man who wrote the cartoons but he didn’t know who he was writing about

In these lands you should be like the first Muslims, call these people to virtue

The people who try to disgrace the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) is like trying to blow out the sun with your breath

None of the slander will get to him (peace and blessings be upon).

If people see us they should recognise the good comes from this religion with his (peace and blessings be upon) methodology, he (peace and blessings be upon) returned wrongs with good actions

We should behave like our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon)

How do we defend the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon)? When we see people killed because they defended him. (peace and blessings be upon)

We defend with the good and fight with the good

He (peace and blessings be upon) stopped people from being killed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) gave a man a gift and asked, “Have I done good to you?” He said, “No.” One of the Companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) wanted to kill him. Afterwards the Prophet (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) gave him another gift and said, “Are you happy now?” He said, “Yes.” Now say this in front of my companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) because I want what’s in their hearts about you to be good. I am like a man who owns camels, I know my camels.”

The Spanish Umayyads caliphs would protect Christians who would go into mosques and write abuse about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon). When they saw that the Christians were trying to re-ignite their religion by getting martyred by the Muslims. The Christians were converting to Islam in droves, they wanted to stop it

They didn’t want to react in a negative way towards Islam

Anything that calls to unity is good in the confines of the law

It’s against your interests to hurt people and this gives a bad image of Islam and Muslims

Someone said (sh. Hamza) homosexuality was ok

Another person came him (sh Hamza) and said, “I am at 69th excuse for you.” We are supposed to look for 70 excuses for your brother.

Seeking knowledge

A student of knowledge biggest blessing is being a student.
It is a great blessing to be a student of knowledge

He should thank Allah and praise him. It is a tremendous blessing

He should always ask for beneficial knowledge in his prayers, he should always extent his hand and ask for beneficial knowledge, whilst he in a lesson and when he reading a book. They should act upon their knowledge and they will see things open for them but then they have knowledge that it has all come from him

Understand the virtue of knowledge and read about the scholars

Knowledge is the inheritance of the Prophets (upon them peace)

He should always be humble and never be ignorant

He should consider himself worse than everyone and then he will be able to take from everyone

Zain Al abideen was sitting in the Masjib Nabi whilst a former slave was teaching a lesson. When he was asked, “oh son of the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) who are sat and gathering knowledge from? He replied, “I seek knowledge from whoever benefits my deen.”

Don’t be hasty in seeking knowledge; you may have to seek knowledge for a long
Time. Some books took him years to finish because they had a long-term benefit in them.

Remain consistent and persistent in your studies, Scholar who would get a basic level and then they would continue to study

You should study even if its for a small amount of time a day and you will benefit from the blessing in persistent study

A pure intention is needed when we study

The intention even though it is small it can have a great effect

Lesson one Hadith Gibril

This hadith is the foundation of Prophetic guidance

Hadith is in Muslim (May Allah's Ta'ala mercy be with him), related by Umar (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him)

This hadith gives us our key understandings

Our deen is encompassing and specific to one area i.e fiqh

This gives us an indication to spiritual excellence; there is a point of perfection

Faith is to have conviction

Every level has realities

There is Insight in the hadith that gives us ways to seeking knowledge

There are many layers of beautiful meanings

Qadi Iyad said; "This hadith has explained all the inward and outward duties, of servitude and worship to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala. Established for us what the foundations of faith are, key outwards works, the means inward sincerity and how one preserves ones work for corruption. In reality all the branches of sacred law return to this hadith and branch out from it."

The importance of knowledge and the means of attaining it

The hadith has been referred to as Umma sunna

This also shows us a way to be a true believer

The state of spiritual excellence is a constant state of worship

"The world is what busies you with other than Allah" (subhanu wa ta'ala) Ibn Ata'llah Alsaknderi (May Allah's Ta'ala mercy be with him)

This has the word of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) and the events that took place, which is something we don't always get.

One of the conditions of knowledge is that one understands what he is learning

You may have knowledge but you may not understanding

Knowledge can be taken from books but not understanding

The companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) lived the Prophetic guidance

Umar(May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) clearly determined between falsehood and truth

The companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them.) should not be vilified

The hadith talks about the strangeness and suddenness of this event

Going to the hadith;who was this stranger and where did he come from, not a traveller or a resident, handsome and had good perfume, he had the manners of a desert Arab

The best of times to seek knowledge is in your youth

Good care and attention for good appearance for Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) is a Sunna

Each and everyone of us is ambassador for our deen

The best of dress is piety

Islamic clothes should be modest and this depends of the custom of the people, (The good custom)

We are very lazy in our attitude to knowledge

There is a proper manner to learning knowledge

If you take care in learning and take it seriously then you'll get benefit

Sheikh Adeeb Khalas said, " A student of knowledge has to break his knees." He took notes even though he had been teaching it for 50 years, whilst sitting in on a lesson given by Sheikh Abdul razzaq Al halabi.

He Gibril (upon him peace) said "Ya Muhammad." (peace and blessing upon him) which was strange as well, in some accounts we have Gibril (upon him peace) give salam and then asked to approach.

Those who believe are the ones who send prayers onto the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him). Your prayers on him increases your faith

Any place with Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) depends on your place with the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

The book of Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) is beautiful, this is the book of success

Our "christmas gift" is salat on the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

They give you manual for everything even a pen. Every maker makes a manual, Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) made the Quran our manual. (You get a manual with a lot of things,i.e. cars, computers etc. You look in the manual to find a solution to problem. So every maker (of something) makes a manual. Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala made the Quran our manual.When things go wrong , look in the manual!)

Allah's (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) promise will never be changed.

The Quran states; "He who does good and is a believer, we will give him the best of lives."

See Sura Al Asr

There was a sheppard once, who every time he prayed one of sheep died, until he had two left, he looked at them and said, "Will you shut up or shall I pray 2 rakat?"

Do you think that really deserve to be forgiven, when you are asking for forgiveness or are you just doing "lip service."

Sometimes faith decreases until someone goes to hell

Deeds are collective and individual, we must ask ourselves,
Do we furfill Allahs (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) rights?
Do we furfill the Sunna?
Do we abide by the Quran?

What about your kids? Husband rights? women’s rights? What are we doing? We must go back to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

We could all be disobeying Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and we could be punished for other peoples sins.

Do not disobey the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) by leaving the Law, in order to get money and then disobey, the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) because you have left the Sunna

At the battle of Uhud, Hamza and the other companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) were killed because the archers left theeir positions then the Quresh counter attacked.

War is declared on the Riba takers by Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) and his Messenger (peace and blessings upon him). The collective Umma must go back to Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) and ask for forgiveness

We must as a community call people to good, then await the victory of Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

Habab (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him), he face filled with blood and said, “why don’t you pray for us? To decrease this torture.” The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “ Before you they would put a man in a hole and cover him, then split his head. They will use iron combs to take off their skin, this didn’t take them from their deen. This deen will succeed until someone will go from here to Yemen and have nothing to fear except a wolf. You are a people are too quick.”

If a person attacked the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) personally, he never retaliated

Uthman Ibn Talhah had the keys to the ka’ba, he would let people in, one day the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) joined the queue. Uthman didn’t let him in and closed the door on his face, the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) smiled and said, “How will you be when I will have the keys?” “The Quresh will be destroyed.” The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “No, the Quresh will be masters.”

“Do not be distressed, Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) is with us.” Said the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) to Abu bakr (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) in the cave as they made migration to Medina from Mecca.

“I am with Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) and he will guide me.” Said Musa (upon him peace) when he was at the banks of the Nile whilst being chased by Pharaoh

He who has Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) how can he lose?

Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) informs him not to worry, Musa (upon him peace) is told to hit his staff and the Nile parts, Musa (upon him peace) was told to go but he feared that Pharaoh would come after him.

Enough for me Is Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) a blessed protector, said Ibrahim (upon him peace) when he was thrown into the fire.

Suraka (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) caught up with the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) when he was making Hijra, the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) made dua and Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) send Gabriel (upon him peace) prevented Suraka from coming any further. The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) asked him if he would like the Jewels of Persia? It was during the Caliphate of Umar (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) that this was realised.

On the first night of the Battle of Khandaq, the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) asked someone to check the trench, no one came forward, he (peace and blessings upon him) asked again and said that would guarantee that they come back, again no one came forward. He asked for a third time and said he will be with me in Heaven. Hudaifah got up and went, he said afterwards he was scared that his aw’ra would be uncovered, as he stood up he saw his clothes lengthen.

The only thing you need is patience and you will see things change with you own eyes.

Ali Zayn Al abideen (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) said about the Day of Judgement. “A call will be made, were the patient will enter heaven without reckoning.” When the angels will be asked why they are being allowed into heaven they will reply, “ We were patient with things that happened and sins until we were taken by Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala).”

The wife (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) of Abu Talha (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) was married to him and her Mahr was the Shadada. A son of theirs called Umair (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) fell sick and after fajr, Abu Talha kissed the boy and when to work. The boy died during the day, she prayed over him. When Abu Talha returned his wife cooked him a good meal, after eating he asked her, “how is the boy?” She replied, “He is better than before.” In the morning she informed him about his death, she said, “ I am very sad, they borrowed something and Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) took it back.” Abu Talha told the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) about this event, “Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) blessed your night.” They would go on to have 10 sons all would become Quran memorises

If you want to have the best, you need to do well and you’ll have a good life.

Bring the Sunna into your houses, minds, ears and heart and you will become light upon light.

As soon as you are born your days are numbered

Every time you lay down in your bed realise that you may never wake up, sleep in the minor death

Trust in Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) Part one

Mankind is in error

A man called Nuradeen had a horse that he went to the market to sell. He told someone who was going to buy, "Its a strange horse, you have to say Alhumdillah, to make it go faster, then you have to say Allahu akbar to make it stop.

The Prophets (Upon them peace) were all prepared before they were tested

When you are in darkness too long, it hurts the eyes when the light is turned on

Ibrahim (Upon them peace) came out of the fire in a better state than he went in

Maryum (Upon her peace) was provided for with food, she shook the palm tree, whilst she was preganat. So when she had Isa (Upon them peace), she was ready to hear the nonsense that the people accused her of, she pointed at him whilst he was in the cot.

Abu bakr (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) gave everything in the path of Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala), yet he never begged

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) preferred poverty over wealth, so we can learn

Tawaqul is knowing that you'll get through it

Trust makes people strong and what are,( i.e. the companions.)

Know that Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) will support you

We can get fooled into thinking that we are providing for ourselves.

Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) loves us seventy times more than a parent does.

Living the Sunna

Its a fortune for those who taste fortunes

Some people can't taste fortunes

Imam Suyuti (May Allah's Ta'ala mercy be with him) said, “Every time I read the Quran and do tafsir, I find something different."

Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) always gives us (human beings) examples. The knowledge of man is imperfect because you still have to learn

We are either a slave to one or a slave to many

Some people are a slaves to their desires of drink, etc

When you are a slave to creation (that is true slavehood).

Bishr Al hafi’s (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) house used to be the party centre in Baghdad. One of his servants was dumping some food when he was approached by a very dark, thin man who was called Musa ibn Jafir ibn Zayn Al abideen ibn Hussein ibn Ali ibn abu talib (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them). Musa (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) said, “Let me ask something before you dump this food, your master a free man or a slave.” “If he was a slave to Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) he would’ve feared him.”
When the servant informed Bishr (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him), he ran out to find out who this man was.
(This was the beginning of Bishr (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) repentance.)

Our problem is how we bring out Islam to the people

Ali ibn Abu talib (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) found a servant crying, “Why are you crying?” he asked, ther servant told him that he had brought some dates that were bad and the shopkeeper refused to take them back. Ali (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) went to the shopkeeper to ask him to change them, he refused and pushed Ali (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) away until some of the companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) came and informed the shopkeeper that he had pushed the Caliph. The shopkeeper became scared and asked if there was anything that he could do to please the Caliph, Ali (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) said, “I would be pleased, if you pleased Allah with yourself.”

From hadith, “He who cheats is not from us.” Islam came to perfect noble character.

If you please Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala), Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala will make people pleased with you.

You only follow, if you love

We need to think about how long we think about the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) (this is a sign of love.)

A sign of love is to love what the person you love, loves, food, books, the people who he loves.

Majnun kissed the walls of a city because of who lived in the walls

You should have a yearning to follow the Sunna

When you read/hear a hadith you should imagine that he is talking to you, there are two kinds of love: love of faith and love of beauty.

Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) gives you and maintains blessings, he gives to us and we decrease in our need to follow him (We think its from ourselves.)

Loving is being the presence of Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) as though he sees you but you know you can’t see him.

1. To abstain from food and drink,
2. Everything that disobeys Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala),
3. Abstain from everything except Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

Love of Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) is like being in an academy in which you go up in levels.

There is a difference between substance and subversion (theres difference between true knowledge and what people think is knowledge.)

The signs of love;
1. When love someone you are totally abosorbed by them

3. You are still behind them and need to catch up.

Jabir ibn Abdullah Al Ansari (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) said after the Minbar had been built and the tree was left, the tree began to moan, all the companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) could hear it. The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) came down from the Minbar and hugged the tree and then the tree began to calm down. He (peace and blessings upon him) said, “If I had not done that, the tree would’ve been crying to the day of judgement.”

Seek with your knowledge the pleasure of your Lord alone and you attain guidance to the rightly guided

Leave idle wastefulness, leave things that have no benefit and leave foolish and ignorance.

Follow the way of the chosen one (Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him)) in every affair

Have reverent awe of Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) do what he calls you to and flee from what he forbids

(Realise your slave hood. Renounce your pleasure for what your master holds dear.)

Don’t involve yourself with doubtful matters and be scrupulous

(This must be based on knowledge. Follow those of knowledge and avoid doubtful matters.)

Repentantly return to Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

(Have patience and turn to Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) in prayer)

Guard your tongue from that is repressible and refrain your hand from wrongdoing. Hasten to noble character and seek the pleasure of your Lord (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

Make the thing you uphold the garment of sound renunciation and make your garments of knowledge that you wear

(Not be attached to created things)

Fill your heart with the knowledge until you attain a most praiseworthy of stations

Hold fast to your spiritual path, that directs you to Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

(All sorts of things will affect someone who seeks knowledge.)

Lift to the all-Merciful (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) all things that befalls you with sincere seek with abasement and patience

(Take the worldly means and turn to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

Cut your heart away from being attached to the means

(Do not ascribe the good to yourself, its all from Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

The way of Junaid al Baghdadi (May Allah's Ta'ala mercy be with him), follow their way

If some words come to you that clearly have good against the Quran or sound hadith then stand firm on it but maintain your manners

(People can make mistakes and small mistakes should corrupt the great good)

The Flesh of the people of knowledge is poisonous

Guard your heart from disclosing things that people don’t understand

Knowledge with good manners and piety is the best of what someone adorns themselves with

A man called Rabi ibn Hatam (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) walked so humbly that people thought he was blind, Abdullah Ibn Masud (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) brought this man up, Ibn Masud’s maiden thought he was blind and when he came to Ibn Masud’s house she said “your blind friend has come.”

The more one immerses himself in the deen, the more joy they get.

We must carry the beauty of the sacred law with us

Purify your intentions and repent to Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

The lover of him (peace and blessings upon him) is called to something that his beloved doesn’t like, he finds it easy to leave it

We must leave what we want for he (peace and blessings upon him) wants, we must leave our desires

We must repay evil with good

This is why we are in tribulation today because we desire what he (peace and blessings upon him) does not

If we look around us, people are in dire need for the light of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) to enlighten this time

Why doesn’t the world see it today?
It is because his light (peace and blessings upon him) has to be embodied, you are the mirrors

This light has no problem with it, the problems is with the mirror (it needs to be cleaned)

This is what they see when they see the Muslims, a darkness

Let us look inward for our enemies then polish these mirrors of our souls

By Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala (x3) the world will come running to this light and the few will reject it and more will come to it

Someone asked the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) why didn't you kill him, after the man had left. It was because the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) didn't have any deceit in him

If our principles are disguarded that is worse than bloodshed

The Battle of Uhud was lost due to love of the world but 5000 angels helped the Muslims on that day The result of this was the martyrdom of many Muslims. i.e. Hamza, Mu'ad

We were beaten this time and we were killed

It was because of one treacherous minister who ordered the dissolving of the army before the Mongols sacked Baghdad The Mongols could see the Muslims, order them to stay there until he would comeback with his sword and kill them.

This was how the Muslims had become degraded. A short time after the Mongols converted and they became the one who prostrate to the Lord of the worlds

The reason for this conversion was because the Muslims had something that they Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) had

Does it remain with us now?

Do we still have what they had? (We do but we have to change ourselves, its us who have to change.)

Have we left these characteristics that some people attribute to weakness

If we loose this, then we loose the ability to carry the Prophetic Message

If a quarter of them understood what his deen meant they would become a representative of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

We should take this to our neighbours and remove them from darkness

We cannot do this unless we look at the people with eyes of mercy

After we have finished today, don't cash out or hide, bring out the mercy and give them the answer to their problems Islam

Yusuf (Upon him peace) was gave an interpretation of someone’s dream and then ask him to mention him front of the Pharaoh but Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala didn’t want him to get that and he remained in jail. He has to ask Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala. Only Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala will give you position

You need a hard forgiveness

His form is not like our forms he was fed by Allah, but we cannot fast like the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) fasted. Ibn Hajar (May Allah's Ta'ala mercy be with him) said he is being given strength, it doesn’t mean he didn’t feel hungry or feel the pain of hunger. He used to tie a rope and a stone around his stomach.

He made the choice to be hungry

Unimaginable treasures were offered to him (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him), but he refused

Gold is called dhb because it goes. (the word for go is spelt the same)

Money is called mil so it is mal, which inclines

The world dunya is the lowest thing

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala sent Gibril to the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) to ask if he wanted mountains of gold, he refused.

He was undisputed leader of Arabia yet he didn’t take from the public funds “bait al mal”

Always remember poverty we need money comforts. He never ate his fill

We should be considered this money

Legimate to take financial consideration when a father marries his daughter to someone

A scholar married a woman
He pretended to be half deaf when he was alone with his wife for the first time when she released wind and he pretended for the rest of his life with her. He didn't want to hurt her feelings

Work for the world for the proportion (for time you will spend there)
Work for the afterlife in the proportion (for time you will spend there)
Work for Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala in your need for him

Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) “What have I got to with the world as someone who takes a rest under a tree and then goes.”

Hands should be empty of property

Zuhud is not to see anything but Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Whenever your turn, there is the creation of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

A Sufi from Kufa says “Does the dunya have any value with you, when it doesn’t have an value in the first place."

Prophet (peace and blessings upon him), “Renounce the dunya and Allah will love you. Renounce what is in peoples hands and the people will love you.”

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala is without needs and is perfect

Time is his creation

The purpose of this world is to (to give a place to) worship

The moments of the Prophets (peace and blessings upon him) prayer was the reason the world was created

When we kiss the black stone we are confirming our allegiance

Sira are subjections of hadith

A believer should walk gently on the earth

Where dead people are being questioned

An Arab is called Arab and a wandering arab is called arabi

Adam (Upon him peace) language was Syriac

8% Syrians are non Muslim and 10% of Egypt and 1% in turkey

Twenty minutes is too short a time to talk about him

He said that he could talk about his own imperfections

At the end of every prayer, the salat on the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) is a conversation “Salam alik aiuhal Nabi…”

We need to practice our love for the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) how could we sit with him, when we don’t do as he says.

The one who practises the sunna is the one who you should learn from

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala loves only as much as we love him

All of the examples of man are flawed except the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

“Home”(Heaven) is the easiest address, turn right and go straight.

We cannot love Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala without loving the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

The Americans go in all guns blazing and the British talk too much, he found this out from a deaf Arab.

People assume that they can’t speak.

Chivalry is to listen to a completed thought he (the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)) never interrupted peoples speech.

The meaning of Usama is a leaping lion and the meaning of Hamza is a roaring lion.

There were non Muslims who couldn’t understand the Quran but understood the Character of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

The Crusaders brought back soap with them and washed themselves.

It took 500 years for amount of converts to reach 50% in Syria

Paraclete means Intercessor (The name of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) in the Bible)

The Sahaba didn’t have anger, they did what they did for Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala not for their own needs.

What destroys people is arrogance

If there is an Alliance to help weak people, we should be there

Those who show mercy, Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala will show mercy to them

When kings conquer a city, they ask the leader, “If you’re angry then it can’t be for Allah.” Subhanu wa Ta’ala

The word mawlid is noun of time and place it is also a masdar (nominalised noun). You cannot deny the masdar.

The grammarian was on a boat and asked the man, “have you studied grammar?”
He said “no.”
“Then you have wasted your life.” The boat began to sink,
“Have to learn how to swim?”
“No.”
“Then you are about to lose your life.”

Vessels can only pour out what they contain

Imam Haddad (May Allah's Ta'ala mercy be with him) prayed Fajr and there was people waiting to shake his hand. He shook hands with the inhabitants of the city and he was asked why he did that. He said, “Why shouldn’t I shake hands with the people who think that I am worth the wait.”

Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) colour is green, the first and the last colour that can be seen with the eye.

He is the first and final Prophet (peace and blessings upon him).

Each Prophet (Upon them peace) has a colour, red is the earth colour for Musa (Upon him peace). The colour of the dome in Medina is green for a reason.

It needs to green with Iman not envy.

Enjoy your deen and invite people thru mercy, address them with a kind word.

If we can give (represent) the example of Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) the people would come to us.

Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) didn’t turn down anyone’s request down, ever, even a kafir.

We need to leave the ego.

Obey the trust that Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala gave us

He had a character of moderation, he disliked extreme behaviour. He did everything in moderation.

Extremist have egotistical anger and say its permissible.

Muslims fight without anger. When Ali (may Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala be pleased with him) wounded a man, he spat on him. Ali (may Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala be pleased with him) became angry, so he withdrew his sword and didn’t kill that man. (With his anger.)

The characteristics of anger are ugly

Disunity is our problem, “You are wrong, I am right” mode.

There were two Iranians thinking who would go to heaven “not the Shia so the Sunnis but the general public are not religious and the scholars oppress people. And that leaves you and me and I am not sure about you!”

We should think the best about people unless we have overwhelming evidence.

Its better to look foolish than to lack trust.

Reason d’atere = reason for being.

Mercy only comes into this world because of Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him).

Allah ta’ala has 99 parts of mercy with him, we are reminded that Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) is a gift from Allah Subhanu wa ta'ala, the greatest human potential.

He is “The example” and when his example is left (not followed) the people become beasts.

Be Honest with oneself and creator and stand in front of suffering without waning.
