Ibn Hazm al-Andalusi (May Allah have mercy upon him)

I like this quote a lot, so I have used it twice!

Ibn Hazm al-Andalusi (May Allah have mercy upon him) said, "If you look deeply into worldly matters you will become melancholy and will end up reflecting upon the ephemeral nature of everything here below, and the fact that truth lies only in striving for the hereafter, since every ambition to which you might cling will end in tears; either the goal is snatched from you, or you have to give the attempt up before you reach it. One of these two endings is inevitable except the search for God the Almighty the Powerful. Then the result is always joy, both immediate and eternal. The immediate joy is because you stop worrying about things which usually worry people; this leads to an increase in the respect paid to you by friends and enemies alike. The eternal joy is the joy of paradise." In pursuit of virtue.

Dowra notes Five
(Dua)

All praise to you who have gathered here

These beauties will not but be transfused in a heart unless it’s pure

Knock on Allah’s door

These gifts don’t come to anyone

His companions used to yearn for you, Allah, until they couldn’t control themselves

O one who gave them this character, give us

Allahs generosity has no limits

We seek his assistance and asking him for Help.

Hearts differ in their truthfulness in their seeking of him

He gives even to those who are lacking in their request

O Allah show us your blessings and be generous with your gift

How many hearts that is free from these desires

We raise our hands to you, to every individual to those who believe in you, Guide their hearts

O Allah we ask you for help and when this assistance come we will not suffer from problems

Everyone will find the result of what he intended, money.

Those who are veiled have a bad opinion of Allah

On the day of judgement Allah will ask, “To who is the dominion today.”

May Allah allow you to drink from the reality of his kingdom

None of the Prophet s works or actions are small they are mighty

Revive the hearts, O’ one who gives live to hearts

How can you forget Allah, his law, his books

Where is truth to other than him

How can you disobey the one who created you

Disobedience is your end, it your punishment

O’ Allah grant us fear of you

O’ people of La illa ill illah, he calls you, to his reality

From listening to empty soaps and tv and useless work, if you do this you will be cut off and you are in need

Remember him in open and in secret

Your messenger told you what to say in your days

Why don’t you remember him in every state

There is only difficult with the one doesn’t remember Allah

Make us ones how remember you

Prepare yourself for difficulties of this world

O ones who have left the prayer and fasting, your scared of the rockets, the tribulations have come and you are laughing

This is the problem because of the have forgotten Allah

O Allah save us

He is with us when we pray, fast and give money without expecting it back

What power stands before Allah

Whose door are the people going to stand at, you never turn anyone away
You gather hearts on Islam after all this time

O Allah give us a truthful light

O Allah have mercy as I continue to stand at your door, he is my companion at the day and the night

The knowledge of my Lord is significant for me

Prayer

This is one the months where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would fast (Rajab)

This is the month of Miraj

Why did it take so long for the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) to meet Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala? Because his heart was washed four times, he was purified internally and externally

This is a reminder to purify by wudu

And the salat was given in to him when he (peace and blessings be upon him) reached a state of purity

Prayer has a purpose

When the people die and they will resurrected, the prayer will be the first thing taken into account, if they are successful they will be successful in the rest

Salat is loyalty, it has to be based on truth

The greatest stealer is the one who steals in prayer

After your prayer, ask yourself has it had any effect on you?

There was a companion who was praying Tahajjud and an enemy say him and shot him several times with arrows, he didn’t feel it, he was in prayer.

The prayer of a person who prays in time and completes all the actions correctly, the prayer will be taken and it will say, “You have preserved me and Allah preserve you.” When a person prays out of the time and when the prayer is weak and incomplete the prayer goes up and says, “You have neglected me may Allah neglect you.”

Dowra notes Four

Tayamum (Shafi)

If he has no water with a distance of a mile, to find wood, he can do tayumum

A traveller can wipe leather socks for 3 days and a resident for one

When the time is up he has to take them off and do wudu again

Someone can only shorten prayers that are 4 rakats

In shafi madhab they can pray sitting on a plane

Our seeking of forgiveness needs another asking for forgiveness because of our state

Don’t listen to your naafs, don’t listen to it

Our own naafs can deceive you more than all the armies of satan

Dowra notes three

Guidance for the Spiritual path

Its upon you to purify the defects in you

Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala Angels glorify you

What this means is that we have made us holy for you

Our intentions need to be pure and holy in order to proceed

There is something greater than the heart and that is that the fight against your self and this is a struggle and people have got to Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala

They are with Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala in all circumstances and states

Those who were delayed in going to battle, they share our status in not going out for Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala

There will be a day, when nothing will benefit us except a pure heart

The Purity of the heart is a great affair and he should not think about anyone except Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala

When the heart prostrates to Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala then it never raises its head

O Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala ask you to make this a reality

We need to get up and practice and we need to give the Habib (Umar) time to rest

Aa man who removes something in the way of people is like the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) who removed things from the road and make it easy for us

The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) said that Taqwa is here and he pointed to his heart three times

This is an affair of the hearts and the souls

All that he has explained, the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) was perfect inwardly and outwardly

If people love beauty, love the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him), if you love perfection, here is the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him)

If you love courage here is the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him), if you love generosity, love the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him), He gave a valley full of cattle to a man

They is no area except that the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) perfected himself in it

A companion was changed when he heard the Quran, it said:
O you slave disobeying Allah, turn to Allah and repent to your guardian and its nothing else but to connect yourself to the Prophet. (peace and blessings be upon him) This should be our state

O Allah forgive us, we have looked at the Haram, forgive us, what we have done and veil our shortcomings

Validity of Hadith as a source for sacred law

To those brothers who say that they just follow the Quran, there are ninteen different Suras, where obedience to Allah subhnau wa ta'ala and his Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are ordered.

Sacred knowledge

The Deen of Islam is the greatest blessing on the planet

One of the obstacles that we face in society is when we don’t have knowledge

We don’t have enough educators in this Deen

A scholar said one of the greatest door that satan enters upon a Muslim is ignorance

We cannot build a house without consulting a constriction expert

We don’t have a strong link with Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and his Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)

We need scholars in our community, they are the cement and this brings unity and without that, we have disunity

Learning knowledge is an act of worship

Knowledge is an act of the soul and it empowers us against satan

If we neglect knowledge than we neglect our society

We need scholars to preserve the Deen

Today we have mosques and Masjids but bricks and mortar aren’t going to teach our kids

Once a companion built a roof over the masjid and when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) found out, he didn’t look at the companion and when he asked what was wrong. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said I was told that you build this roof structure, he said yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) now is not the time

We should designate money for youngsters to go study

We need to encourage our young to learn the Deen

We have to do this now as we might not have the chance because we might not be able to go to these countries later

The person who say that he doesn’t want to learn because then he would have to follow, this person gets two punishments. The person who finds out but doesn’t do it gets one, even if he weak in following up gets one

Habib Umar (trans) Sheikh Yahya Rhodus 19-07

Dowra notes two

What other basin will you go to? Other than the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

Scholars when they are travelling

Who doesn’t recognise blessings in his life, they will be taken from them, we have to know the reality of blessings

It’s permissible for a scholar to take money if he has no other method (when travelling)

In an hadith the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Don’t let anyone eat your food except a person of Taqwa.”

There are different types of awilya some can travel great distances, others have different skills

Some scholars chose to travel others did not

Others travelled then stayed somewhere, others travelled and kept travelling

Some students would travel from great distances for one word what about if you learned a sentence. Jabir ibn Abdullah went to Egypt for a hadith about a student who travels for knowledge who is the path of Allah until he returns

They went to meet other scholars and knowledge

Sometimes students can be benefit from a glance, whoever glance doesn’t benefit then his words doesn’t benefit. In other words he will teach by actions rather than words

Whoever doesn’t act on the knowledge he has, his words will be from his hawa (lower passions)

Every student he meets increases that student

The people of certainty speak with their actions more than the words that they say

A glance is beneficial

The one who works from knowledge, he will speak with light

Merely looking at the scholars of knowledge is a benefit itself

It will destroy the impurity in your hearts

The scholars have this ability to look at an individual and they can see their sincerity

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) “The evil eye is true.”

Looking at someone with evil eye has an effect, so what about the good look of a gnostic it can have a good effect

Turtles have the ability to look at their eggs and this will make them hatch, what about the glance of a true Gnostic

It’s as if they look at someone their look will benefit from them

Some scholars would look at people and see if they where being looked at

They want to teach their souls to taste things that they are not comfortable with so they can get a reward with Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala

One of their intentions they make is that they want to over come their hawa

Their true character will only show when you travel with them

When your tired it is harder to have good character, it is easy to be good when you’re at home and this impacts the soul of the traveller and this is the training

A person will travel all over the place so he can leave the pleasures of the world

The way to attain victory in this world is to remember Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala and read the stories of the righteous and attach our hearts to them

If a man has a lot of whispering of satan, he shouldn’t leave the prayer

We should know that Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala dislikes people to have bad opinion of people and he will punish for it, have a good opinion even if it be evil people

Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala will take people into account not you

To find out who is good scholar you should see good character and good state

We should have a good opinion of people and even if we see them doing bad we should find excuses for them

Habib Umar trans Sheikh Yahya Rhodus 18-07

Arif Al Marif (dowra notes part one)

Chapter; The Sufis will be in a good state until they accept the bad things

May Allah protect and establish the schools

So we can preserve the deen

Beneficial knowledge will be taught

Not for other reason except to get close to Allah Subhnau wa Ta'ala

The people who will have the most remorse on the day of the judgement are the ones who had the opportunity to study but didn’t

If you have the ability to study use it

Use it as a means to get closer to Allah Subhnau wa Ta'ala

And we ask him to purify our intentions

When the ignorant people sat they sat, because they sought knowledge for an ulterior motives and are not sincere

This person only is veiled and gains nothing except distance

If he has a bad opinion of people he could be cut off from blessings

We have to see the blessing of the people off our time and not expect too much

The reality is that if someone sees something outside that he doesn’t its because of the reality of the time that we are in

The one people who arrive to Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala are the ones who Allah Subhnau wa Ta'ala wishes to arrive to him

The early people had aspects of the legality and they had a pure human nature

A good opinion strengths his heart and he had a bad opinion it will be bad for him

There is benefit in having good opinion for a person but don’t help a person to do bad (evil)

Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala will give you help if you do this

If you have a bad opinion then this is bad manners, if the person who has a bad opinion is wrong when he right. As is illustrated when Osama ibn zaid (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) killed the person who said the Shahada

Don’t spy on your neighbours

The person who thinks he is better than others, will be the first to be destroyed

The Sahileen are those who see their deficiencies

The righteous are the ones who don’t belittle others

The people of truth don’t think about harming other people and don’t think about attaining something by taking it from others, this is brotherhood

We don’t mean everyone has to have the same madhab etc, in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) there were different opinions and he (peace and blessings upon him) confirmed them all

The one who says we have to get rid of the legal opinions (schools) is the one who hasn’t thought about it well

We have outward difference but we have mercy in our hearts and we are united under the shahada

Its incumbent to get together for the sake of Allah Subanu wa Ta'ala

To unify the Muslims is not to remove what differs but to arrange things to work together and have a mutual organisation and the respect each and help each other

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Indeed, the believer are like one body. If one part is in pain then the whole body is in pain.” Whoever who doesn’t feel the pain of the Muslims, he could be sick and he feels the pain of the tribulation of the Muslims

Just as you see the evil people spread drugs, tribalism, nationalism amongst the earth, its as if they want the Muslim body to be paralysed and not feel a thing

Its customary for them to rectify the wrong beliefs of a member

If we get people to differ this will bring people to differ and satan will enter

The Sufis will be in a good state until they accept the bad things

None of them will get the doors open if they differ and they will force apologies from others

Umar ibn Khattab ( May Allah be pleased with him ) said, “May Allah be merciful for the one who shows me my faults.”

As if a scorpion is on your shoulder or in your bed, our faults are like scorpion in our graves we should be grateful for someone who points out your faults

Umar (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) once asked Salman al Farsi (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) about his faults, who refused at first and when Umar (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) insisted, Salman (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) said you eat two loaves and change your clothes in the middle of the day. Umar (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) said that after today both these things will stop.

Where is the Mutual advice of today?

May Allah be merciful to persons who gives me a gift by showing me my faults

This is how Umar (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) used to gather the companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) and ask then he used ask, if he could accept some dispensations, they said that they would correct him and he was very happy with them

If someone comes to you with fire in his heart and you must put out his fire with the water from your heart and don’t add fire from your heart

The sign of bad character is if we complain about others bad character, if we hide other faults and this is better for us

Its upon the sheikh to rebuke the students who rebuke people with his naafs, why didn’t you approach that person with your heart? Good and evil are not equal, repel evil with good

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Show mercy you and will be shown mercy.”

If a brother who doesn’t accept an apology he gets a sin upon him

Its dangerous for a person not to accept an apology

Don’t have anything in your heart and a person who goes to someone and apologise that person will have his heart enlighten by Allah

The person who doesn’t accept the sin of his brother

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “The person who doesn’t accept the excuse of a person. Will not come to my hawd, let him find another hawd.”

Sheikh Ibrahim Osi Efa

Advice and the Shamil Tirmdi

All of what humanity knows is not much

Not much of not much

Knowledge has its threshold – you have to pay your tax

The tax of knowledge is to teach

The word for man in Arabic Rajl comes from the word Rijl which means leg and a man is a person who is upright

Its upon you to travel to find knowledge

Ignorance is a lack of knowledge

People do what they do on the basis of knowledge or lack of

The religion revolves around people of knowledge

Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is not illiterate

He (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a society where literary was not valued, the Oral Prophet

The word katba (to write) means to gather

Iqra means to recite, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “What shall I recite?” (Not, I cannot recite) That what it means

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala to show him truth as truth and so he could follow it

We don’t take religion from non-believers

This affair is beyond us

We take from classical sources

We are a people of justice we don’t do what they do

Sending a rocket indiscriminately into people, where does this come from? Its like a plate of pork and saying Bismillah (You can't do that!)

It took the companions (may Allah be pleased be them) 15 years before they were given the order to fight

Classical Islam is trying to put yourself into a context

Our disease is love of the world, that’s why people do (things with) drugs

Wrench the world out of your heart

And you’ll love to die, so you could meet your Lord

The ultimate way to change our condition is by taking the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as an example

He (peace and blessings be upon him) is the cure for every ill in this society

The earth was folded up for him (peace and blessings be upon him) and he knew what would happen to us

There is no tongue better than the tongue of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Someone who doesn’t posses a thing can’t give it

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “O Allah make amongst the few.”

Some scholars would be so busy learning and reading, they would ask their wife’s to feed them

Imam Ahmed (May Allah be pleased with him) relates that he saw Allah in his dreams 99 times, if this is the amount he saw Allah, how may times did he see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

If we see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in our sleep and we shall see him in real life

Some people have seen him

Its about cleansing the heart until it manifests

Imam Ahmed (may Allah be pleased with him) saw Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and asked how do we approach you? Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala said, “By my book.” “With understanding or without?” Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala said, “With understanding or without.”

There are blessings even if you don’t understand

Angels search for groups of remembrance

The sham’il is looking at the essence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

We have to inculcate what he (peace and blessings be upon him) inculcated

(Why do) we speak about Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala what we don’t understand?

Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) said, "Our inability to know Allah is the correct understanding of him."

Without the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) we would all be on the wrong path

Imam Tirmidi (May Allah be pleased with him) was a student of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (may Allah be pleased with them)

When you don’t begin with bismillah the action is cut off, hacked off, (removed from blessing)

If you go to the Middle East know about classical or traditional Islam

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Isnad is from the Deen.”
(Isnad – chain of transmission going back to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him))

If there’s no chain of transmission, there’s no Deen

Then why would the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) take from Gibril (upon him peace)

When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed the lote tree, Gibril stayed back and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Is this what a friend does to a friend?” Gibril said, “If I was to go forward one iota, I would combust.” Where did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) go into the divine presence and then the prayer was given to him

Take good from the beautiful

Symmetry means a lack of change

Halq means physical creation from which comes from a state of non-existence

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “I don’t fear Shirk for you.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is created in order to remind, he is the greatest created act ever, every created act comes from him

It is as if the day of judgement is his day (peace and blessings be upon him)

A childs hair will turn grey, as the Quran tells us

If Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala showed some of his countenance to us, everything would be scorched

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the intermediary, you cannot get to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala except by the door of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

We have to understand language

He is the embodiment of perfect Character, (peace and blessings be upon him)

He was a walking Quran, the Quran is uncreated

When you see people walk like him (peace and blessings be upon him) then our situation will change, overnight

On the day of judgement he is Ahmed because Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala is the focus that day

Why wouldn’t you call him Syed?

The problems of this world are because of the people of the sunna and its our fault for letting people go astray

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “If you find good thank Allah, if you find other than that blame yourself.”

He (peace and blessings be upon him) could never say a bad word that’s why he used the word “other”

Don’t blame anyone but yourself

The world is a reflection of yourself

We will be raised on your own, driven to a place on your own, judged on your own
When we will driven it will be in silence and the only sound you’ll hear is the sound of the feet moving up and down (like the sound of clothes rustling)

All the eight people who described the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are children

The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) couldn’t look him in the face

Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) couldn’t describe the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) except by the word beauty

When the women saw Yusuf (upon him peace) they cut their hands, Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) said if they had seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) they would’ve cut out their hearts

12 questions where asked by the companions (May Allah be pleased with them) all of them where answered by the Quran

When bedions where in town, the companions (May Allah be pleased with them) would gather people to see the bedions, because they would ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) questions

If someone shows you love, how can you go against his word? How can you disobey?

Love isn’t on the tongue, its on the heart

We love him but we don’t want to meet him at the mizan (scales that will weigh up our good and bad actions). We want a light judgement

The bridge goes over hell (we have to go over hell to get to heaven)

One day, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was looking for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), she looked everywhere and found him in Baqi (graveyard). He was praying and in prostration he was saying, “My nation, my nation.” He kept repeating this. (He is concerned about us)

Take your knowledge from men not children

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was 6 foot tall and Umar ibn khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) was 8 foot tall

One of his miracle was that anyone who walked with him, didn’t seem taller than him

On the 12th Rabi al awall, his (peace and blessings be upon him) birthday was in the cave of Hira, when he got the revelation

Sura Hud and Sura Waqiah gave the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) white hairs

He is a universal Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so that he can be attractive to all nations

Ali ibn Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) used to shave his hair because he said that between each hair was a sin

He (peace and blessings be upon him) has a body beautiful, it was in perfect proportion

Manners of the Masjid

This world is a means to get closer to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is waiting for us on the other side

Glorify the sacred in Islam like the Masjid

Ibn Hajja mentions twenty intentions of going to the Masjid

Prepare yourself for entering the Masjid

One should be in a state of dhikr

This is a time to bring yourself into account

Ibn Mashish said, "I seek help from you, to you. I seek assistance from you, to you."

Make your intention: I have left my house for nothing except for the sake of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

And Ask: I ask you for protect from the fire and to enter heaven

Ibn Hajja said when you intent to leave for the Masjid you should lower your gaze

When you enter the Masjid ask Allah to forgive your sins

Ask him to open his doors of mercy

Pray 2 units of prayer - even before you sit

Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to stop people using the Masjid as a pathway, by entering one entrance and exiting by another

We have been ennobled by Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala to place our faces on the places that the companions walked, in the Masjid Nabi

Give salat on the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), give salams to those present, even if there is something there

Don't speak about worldly matters in the Masjid

Don't spit or walk in front of anyone

Remove filth

Don't bring children to the Masjid that are not toilet trained

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala is the owner of the Masjid, would you like someone to come into your house and disrespect it?

You can spit in the Masjid if its sand and you can easily hide it

People who enter the Masjid are the people of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and the people of Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) are the people of hadith

Keep the Masjid tidy

Its not permissible to bring weapons into the Masjid, in the Hanafi madhab its an act of apostasy to do so. It will instil fear into people who are in the Masjid

Its not permissible to kill anyone in the Masjid

The etiquettes of the Masjid are very high

The woman who used to clean the Masjid of the Prophet, died. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed over her grave and he saw her in a dream cleaning a Masjid in heaven

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala is the host of the house and we are the guests

Sheikh Saad Al Attas

Section from Qadi Iyad's As Shifa

From page 234.

A person with a strong intention will be rewarded with knowledge in accordance to his intention

Qadi Iyad wrote (the Shifa) to restore the love of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

It was for our sake (so we realise his rights)

The blossoming of the love for the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) is from the inward, not from the outward

This book was read whilst calamites befell the Muslims

When the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) is present, the doors of calamity are closed by Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

Reading the hadith is like sitting in the company of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

We can’t only rely on this, we need to implement what we have read

Honouring the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) is the greatest sign of god fearing and faith

Anyone who doesn’t respect the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) is destined for destruction

He (peace and blessing be upon him) will be a witness over the Umma

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “The rewards of my nation have been shown to me. The smallest good work was to remove something from the mosque.”

Someone shouldn't raise his voice over the voice of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), when you listen to his hadith, listen to the narration

The further we move away from the time of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), the more we need his love

The light of his love was passed from generation to generation

The help is still needed, so help the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), with the work he would’ve done

We have manners with everyone, not complete their words before they would

A true scholar is the one practices what he preaches

If we are distant from him (peace and blessing be upon him), he is distant from us

If we something without respecting the Sunna, the result would be a catastrophe, devoid of success

We address the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) with the greatest respect

The smaller the man becomes in the sight of people, the higher that he goes to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and vice versa

The companions (May Allah be pleased with them) spoke to the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) only when they had questions

The 13 questions of the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) are recorded in the Quran

The Quran states that the people would loose their works, if they speak badly to the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him)

The ignorant are those who don’t absorb or understand

When Abu bakr and Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) heard this, they lowered their voices until people couldn’t hear them

We should respect our scholars of our time

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala will make our actions worthless, if we disrespect the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him)

If someone shows disrespect to the words of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) then show them how to respect them

The Jews used to swear at the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) by mixing up the Arabic and Hebrew

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) gives us exactly what we need

The reward for a good deed for the Umma of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) is worth 10, (of the nations before us)

Anas ibn Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) gardens used to give fruit twice a year and he saw one hundred of his offspring, because the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) prayed for him (3 things, plenty of provision, offspring and forgiveness). He used to say, “I am waiting to be forgiven by Allah.”

We smile first and then they smile

They used to listen to him quietly with their heads bowed, in respect for him (peace and blessing be upon him)

In Hanafi fiqh, blood is filth and cannot be drunk.

You cannot take anything from Mecca or Medina unless you live there

To rub a Syed is permissible but shows disrespect

Khalid ibn walid (may Allah be pleased with him) lost a turban during a battle, he fought to get it back and lost a lot of men. The turban had some hairs of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) in it

A companion was captured and tortured, he was asked, “Would you rather that Muhammad be in your place and you at home?” He said, “No, by Allah I don’t wish that a thorn would touch the foot of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him)

Talha ibn Ubaydllah (may Allah be pleased with him) had eighty plus wounds on him (from protecting the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) at the battle of Uhud.)

There was once a woman who was shaking and trembling, the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “Be calm woman.” She was transformed to her normal state

Sheikh Abdullah fatah Al Ghuddah said, “Raising your voice indicates a lack of respect, when you talk to people.”

Greet youngsters and old people

If you act like a humble person, you will become humble

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) restored the humanity to the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and showed them that the world meant nothing, he was sent to give life to people

Respecting his (peace and blessing be upon him) house, is respecting him

Qadi Iyad (may Allah show him mercy) (how to make a dua),
1. praise Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala,
2. send prayers onto the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him),
3. ask for you need,
4. Prayers on the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) in the middle and in the end

Different opinions in Islam cater for different peoples in different places

You can follow a Madhab but not the dispensations that remove one from the circle of responsibility

Its an enormity to relate a fabricated hadith (unless it is to warn)

Ahmed ibn Hanbal said, “I prefer weak hadiths over the words of men.” (The words of men meant here are the scholars of his time)

Words came out of the mouth of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) like light, in a subtle gentle way

Imam Malik issued a fatwa for a Qadi to be jailed for relating a hadith standing up

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “Fatima is a part of me.”
(Anyone who harms her, harms him.)

Before the battle of khandaq, the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), “I will give the flag to someone Allah and his Messenger loves.” Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) wished it was he and stood on his tiptoes – to be noticed. Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) came in, he was not expected as he had an illness in his eye. The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) put some of his saliva into Ali’s eye and he could see better than he could before.

Once the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) was giving a Khutba and someone came to ask him a question, he came down from the Minbar, a chair was brought out and he answered all the questions that the man had. He only returned to the Khutba when it was clear that the man was satisfied.

There are two types of love: rational love (beginning) and true love (end)

He who is obedient to Allah and his Messenger will be with the Prophets, martyrs and the truthful

The reason why we ask Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala to bless the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), is because whatever we could say, it wouldn’t be enough

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) never ate raw onions or garlic, it ok to eat them cooked

Keep ones breath fresh because the angels take the Fatiha from the mouth

Ibn Ata’llah says the archers who deserted the flank at the battle of Uhud wanted to get the booty, so they could give it away in charity

Jihah al Ghifari broke the staff of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) during the caliphate of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). He died from a flesh-eating disease

Someone who takes a hadith and practices it, its as if they have a lock of hair of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him).

This is the inheritance of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) is knowledge.

We need to get that knowledge.

Dream Interpretation

(These are general rules but do not take them too seriously!)

True dreams for Prophets (upon them peace) are part of their revelation

Satan can appear to men in their dreams

(The following are what you see in a dream and then what it means)

Hold a rope in a dream - is like holding onto Deen

Sailing ship is a sign of God

Biting your fingers, you are showing sorrow for your sins

If you see a ruby you’ll get married or have a baby

An Elephant means an oppressive ruler

Get a stone in a dream – obtain forgiveness

Worries – forgiven sins

Cheating – problems with belief

Passing over a bridge – running to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Eating fruits – you’ll get married

Water pouring – calamities or marriage

Milk – Knowledge

Length of clothes – reflecting righteous

Umar ibn khatab (may Allah be pleased with him) was seen in a dream with a long thoub, which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) said it reflected his righteousness

Kufr – you are hiding something

Seasons and climates fit each other
- cold in cold, warm in warm
- season of food
- dry branches – beaten

a nightmare doesn’t always mean something bad

Repeatedly die – martyrdom
Broken teeth – relatives, top male, bottom female

Abbassid king saw a dream in which all his teeth fell out he called one interpreter who told him all his relatives would die, he was punished
The second interpreter said the king would outlive his relatives and he was rewarded

Falling into water – money

Flying – travel – get money

Enter prison – pay off debt

Hand cuffed – firm in Deen

Directions to paradise? Turn right, go straight

Step on a snake – growing farm

Beaten – get some good

Beaten on the back – debt pay off

Abu Jahl dreamed he was a Muslim it was for his son Ikhramia (may Allah be pleased with him)

The dream state starts at 30 years at the beginning of the night and towards the end it will happen soon

To see good dreams, clean yourself of the dunya

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “Wudu is a weapon of the Muslim.”

There should be no excuse to go to bed except with Wudu

If you see a bad dream keep it secret and it will not hurt you

Spit lightly over your left hand shoulder and seek refuge

Never make up a dream

Islamophobia part two

Its not easy for a speaker to come and speak to you, from Damascus

Two invasions are taking place, in Lebanon and Iraq, they are taking revenge on ordinary people

An American once asked him why do you hate us, we don’t hate you

The first country to recognise America was Morocco and they were the first to accept the state of Israel

We don’t kill non-Muslims, we call them to Islam

Killing people on the basis of their religious beliefs is against Islam

We do not stab in the back

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) banned Muslims from killing innocent people women, children, religious people

What do we have to offer the world except poverty and underdevelopment

Oil?

If we look at ourselves as Muslims we will find out that we have a lot to offer humanity. We are responsible to humanity and take them out of misguidance

This is the best time for us to work to spread Islam

We are better than others with the shadhda

The worst crime is to rebel against Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

His father saw the signs of victory, as people see the day, they are like (the scholars) mountains, unmoving

During the battle of the trench, he (peace and blessing be upon him) broke a rock, he saw victory

Islam will reach where the sun reaches, Islam will be in every home

Palestine will be liberated

Don’t worry about this Deen, Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala protects it

Some people who don’t have conviction in multi faith dialogues

Many people became Muslims because of what the conviction they saw in Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) after the opening of Mecca

Show your strengthen in conviction this is what will lead people to Islam

People fear Muslims, if they don’t fear (awe), then there is something wrong

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) said he was given five things that no one else was, victory, fear, the distance of one month, travelling

One months travelling includes all Arabia where he (peace and blessings be upon) passed away, Islam had already gone across Arabia

This means the whole world

Why do you expect to people to respect you, when you don’t show it in your behaviour

The true Muslim is the one who doesn’t harm anyone with his hand or his tongue

The cartoons benefited the Muslim because they didn’t know who the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) was

Insecurity is inside the people who go against Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

The major achievement of communism was to take people from Christianity

There is no religion that survived ideological attacks except Islam

With half a mile of the Umayyad masjid, there is the Christian and Jewish quarter (in Damascus)

We have a long history of tolerance

We have to look at ourselves and ask the question, if we are solving (problems)

We have a power behind us, which is stronger than anyone

It doesn’t matter if we or our children see it, Islam will be triumphant

The best Islam practiced is the religion that is practiced by the people who practice it

We have to call people back to the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon)

Secular Muslims are doing a lot of damage to Islam

When we go home we have to do something practical

We need to pray five times a day

Sidi Ahmed Zarruq (may Allahs mercy be with him) examined people who prayed Isha and Fajr in Jamma and no problems befell them. This is from an hadith.

Why don't people do surveys like this

True belief is based on knowledge

Islamophobia part one

Islam is not the property of anyone except Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala made the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala will protect the Deen of Islam

I am a good for nothing, compared to nothing

I have memorized the Quran and the Bible

Over 100,000 have taken Islam with me

I don’t talk about Islamophobia, I talk about Islam-a-luviya

I wish that Tony was here, so that he could take Islam, shahada form me

If we where protectors of Islam, then the Arabs would not be disgraced

Where’s the reverend? He’ll take shahada before he leaves (a Christian cleric gave a short talk before him)

We call ourselves Muslims and we don’t even follow the Sunna

If I had knowledge like the scholar then people(?) would be in trouble

Palestine belongs to the Muslim Umma

I love all Arabs because of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), even if I see a drunk Arab, I respect him

We have Islamophobia inside Islam, Arabs against Arabs, Arabs don’t go to Pakistani masjids and vice versa, there’s no unity amongst the Muslims

I am in love with Birmingham because the sisters cover their heads

How many of you have memorised the Quran? (not many put their hands up, when as low as one juz, only 5 people put their hands up), the future is bleak

How can you say you love Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and want to destroy his property?

Advice on Ramadhan

Bismillah

Assalamu alaykum

(Notes kindly provided by Arshad Mahmood, Jakallah khair)

If there are any mistakes in the notes, they are due to us, not the original dars of the shaykh and may Allah (subhanu wa ta'ala) forgive us for our shortcomings.

"Subhanallah, we have been doing these blessed Mawlids for 6 months now consistently, and I want you all to concentrate on the word "consistency" carefully for the next few weeks, particularly in Ramadhan.

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) was/is the most consistent person on the face of the earth, and he (Peace and blessing be upon him) said in a hadith, "Allah loves those acts which are consistent, although they may appear small and insignificant to you, but with Allah (Subhanu wa ta’ala), they are highly regarded and that is what really matters".

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) said that, “Ramadhan is such a blessed month, that if my Ummah understood its blessings properly, they would wish for this month to be all year round.” This is a month in which we can practise consistency and implement it after Ramadhan too, inshallah.

Ramadhan is surely a blessed month and Allah (Subhanu wa ta’ala) wants to forgive you by the end of this blessed month, and that is why he is offering you opportunity after opportunity in this month, just look carefully at the opportunities within it "5 times Salah with Jama’at, Lailatul Qadr which is better than 1 thousand months, Taraweeh prayers, Suhur, Iftaar, Itikaaf in the Masjid, the multiplication of rewards, the Nawafil acts getting elevated to status of Fard in terms of reward, the reward for Fard being multiplied.

Shaykh also mentioned that in Ramadhan Allah (Subhanu wa ta’ala) provides you opportunities to become people of Allah. Allah (Subhanu wa ta’ala) has placed the five pillars of Islam within this month.

1) Tawheed - The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) said that, “Repeat the recitation of the shahada in abundance in Ramadhan”.

2) Salah - 20 rakaat nafl is equal to 20 rakaat faraid in Ramadhan. Then on top of that you have the Taraweeh prayer.

3) Fasting - The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that the reward of fast is paradise.....according to the Hadith Qudsi by Allah(Subhanu wa ta’ala)

4) Zakah - The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) was more generous in the month of Ramadhan. He was generous anyway, so you can’t imagine him being more generous. Sadaqah in the month of Ramadhan is equal to giving Zakah.

5) Hajj - The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) said that the one who makes Umrah in the month of Ramadan, it is as he did Hajj with me.

The shaykh also mentioned that we should “increase in our istighfaar”, “increase in Quran recitation”, “increase in Salawat upon the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him)” and try to do “Qiyamul Lail (staying up at nights)”.

And once you do become the people of Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala, you won’t talk about things that have been made a duty upon you as Muslims, but you will talk about privileges of being Muslims. You will say “what a privilege it is to be a Muslim”. You will remove something harmful in someone’s way, you will not think that it’s my duty, but you will feel privileged to do so. Once you become people of Allah Subhanu wa ta’la, you will see things that a normal person won’t see.

The sheikh mentioned the story of Imam Nawawi (May Allahs mercy be with me) that when he was 7 years old. He woke up at night and started waking everyone up and shouted “what is this light everywhere?” and from that his father realised that it was Laila Tul Qadr that night.

Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala also made all those things Haram upon you while fasting (some haram in any circumstances but some specifically in Ramadhan), which are the barriers to attaining his love and pleasure (food, water, backbiting, slandering, lying, see how Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala has put it on a plate for you in this blessed month.

Spend this month wisely, like the people of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala do. If you have holidays from work, then take them in this month because this is the holiday of the people of Allah. Forget ibiza, costa dela , the people of Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala take holidays from the Duniya in Ramadhan and spend this month in giving it its dues.

But most importantly, take the month of Ramadhan with you, after Ramadhan, and keep up these actions, because that’s the whole point.

One who can do 20 Rakats in Ramadhan Taraweeh prayers, can do 20 rakats nawafil daily after Ramadhan.
One who can increase his recitation of the Quran in Ramadhan, can continue it after Ramadhan too.
One who can control the eyes, ears, mouth, limbs inside Ramadhan, can surely do so after Ramadhan.
One who can fast for 29/30 days in Ramadhan, can surely , fast the fasting of Shawaal, Ashura etc etc.

Oh believers, don’t let this month slip without realising the purpose of it, become people of Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala, increase your charity, increase your smiling at others, increase your love for children, elders, neighbours, community.
Don’t just focus on the Faraid in this month, focus on the Sunnah too, focus on the Nawafil too.

May Allah (Subhanu wa ta’ala) forgive us all. Ameen

Habib Umar Ibn Hafiz / Sheikh Ibrahim Osi efa

Sheikh Ibrahim Osi efa

I cannot introduce the one who is introduced

The word imtthalun (the Arabic root means example and it also indicates to internal opening, a change, Sheikh Ibrahim compares Habib Umar to this word)

I could speak about those who serve him, his people, his grandfather. I could speak about his family. (He traced his linage back to the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him))

Allah is the one who raises and debases

They say it’s a family affair

Have love for the family

Have love for this man

Habib Umar ibn Hafiz
Mawlid

We have gathered today because we love Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) and his Messenger (Peace and blessings be upon him)

Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) makes things great and the greatest is the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him)

The Companions (May Allah be pleased with them) sat together, The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) asked them why they where sat. They said to remember Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala), The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) said, “ I didn’t ask you, to doubt you but I was ordered to sit in gathering such as this.” This is a place where mercy descends

Thank Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and purify your intentions

No one sends blessings on him (Peace and blessings be upon him) except that Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala raises us and he (Peace and blessings be upon him) returns them

Imagine the greatness of the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him), he is sent blessing by millions of people, angels and so forth

Imagine how great he (Peace and blessings be upon him) is where he lead all the Prophets (upon them peace) in prayer and later returned to his bed

How great his soul is (Peace and blessings be upon him) when he can return our blessings wherever we are

This great soul dwelled in a blessed body (Peace and blessings be upon him)

In 23 years he gave all of mankind a message, he guided us completely

This inheritance allows us to behold the creation

Souls without their potion of this inheritance are like people who turn back their backs on the signs from Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

It doesn’t matter what people own of the world, unless they know Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Creation only serves a purpose towards creation

We should use it for good

If we had insight we would prefer what Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala would prefer

After the Gazwa Hunian, the people who entered Islam were given money and things to strengthen them, some of the Ansar (May Allah be pleased with them) where unhappy about not receiving some booty. When he (Peace and blessings be upon him) heard this, he (Peace and blessings be upon him) called the Ansar and Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with them) and asked them, “What is this news that has reached me?” The Ansar (May Allah be pleased with them) where ashamed and became silent, he (Peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this three times, then said, “Didn’t I reach you and guide you, didn’t Allah guide you through me?” “Oh, yes.” The blessing is all from Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) and his Messenger (Peace and blessings be upon him). “Oh people of Ansar, Are you sad about these things? They will leave with these things and you will leave with me. If its wasn’t for the migration I would be an Ansar and that I would go the way the Ansar would go, if others went another way, I would go with the Ansar.” (Peace and blessings be upon him).
They wept until their beards were wet.

Let us return to our homes with the Sunna of the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him)

Get your inheritance of the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him)

The shop is always open

In these gathering the hearts are purified, resolve is taken, take guidance to inspire, this is a summary of inheritance
Humble yourself to it and who want to get the most precious thing the gift of the Prophets (Peace and blessings be upon him) inheritance

Habib Umar ibn Hafiz

Grand Mawlid
Part Seven

He asked for forgiveness from Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala for himself and everyone

When the people wanted to ask for forgiveness, all they had to do is walk towards the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

By sitting here, there is no veil between us and the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) despite the gap in time

The one who chose him, gave him his rank and only he knows what his rank is

Not a single person who gives him a greeting except he returns it

You are the manifest outward peace and its the only place you can get peace in this world

Our creator is one, learn how to have a manners with everything

We still find fruits from the events of the past. i.e. Abbasids

When one of the companions did something for the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) he asked what he wanted. The companion said he wanted the Prophets (Peace and blessing be upon him) companion in heaven

The greatest of the people are the Muslims who will come to the hawd, inshallah

Grand Mawlid
Part Six

Blessings and peace upon the most beautiful Blessings and peace upon the most beautiful

At a time when beauty is in short supply, humanity is in dire need of beauty

At a time, we celebrate the birth of the manifest beauty

At a time, when the Umma feel oppressed, we can’t feel defeated

The eye of the poet lamented, because desired to be sparrow, so he could get closer to the Prophets (Peace and blessing be upon him) grave.

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) said, people are like mines, some have gold, some have other things. The best in ignorance is the best in religion

Can you imagine the harshness of the state of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) (after being rejected by the people of Ta’if)

Some people rested on a wall and saw the state of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) and where moved by the ties of kinship

The worst of the people of Ta’if, made two lines and they kicked, stoned and punched him (Peace and blessing be upon him). Whenever he (Peace and blessing be upon him) would fall, they would pick him (Peace and blessing be upon him) up and push him forward. They wouldn’t give him (Peace and blessing be upon him) any time to rest

Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) said he never say anyone who loved a man like they love the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) honoured him by saying that anyone who entered the house of Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) is safe, because his status was low at that time

What changed Ikrimah ibn Abu Jahl (may Allah be pleased with him) to become a person who died for Islam, weeks after entering it. He was bleeding on the battlefield and was thirsty, closed his lips and wished his brother to drink.

Imam Ahmed Rafi went to Hajj with 90,000 people, he saw a wounded dog and nursed it for 3 days, even though the spit of the dog is najis and it would only be allowed in the Maliki Madhab

Habib Umars Sheikh Abdulqadir As Saqaf, was about to leave in a car, a man came to kiss and shake his hand. Then he closed to door and then came back and talked to him for five minutes(through the window), after that he went. The Sheikh said that when the man closed to door of the car, he closed it on his index finger. (He didn't say anything to that man, all the time he was speaking to him.)

There was man who killed a scholar who had a son, the son grew up to become a scholar and when the man repented, he called one of the students of the son. When the student realised he put the phone down and told scholar (son), he said, “It is better that we see his Islam, rather than we our rights from him.”

Sheikh Ahmed Tijani

Are you wahabis? Say Ya Rasul Allah!

If you insult Abdul Qadir Jilani, you salat is not valid

He (Peace and blessing be upon him) was the first creation and will be the first recreated

Everyone who came here today, came on the invitation of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

Sidi Moez Masud

How can you enjoy life when he (Allah) has given you the ability to enjoy

I wanted to enjoy myself, was there hope for me?
Don’t despair of the mercy of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

I was looking for Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

I was looking for the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

I wasted time that I should’ve given to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

People do drugs to get high but they can get it in the deen

On the day of judgement we will be given back what we have spent

The paradise of this world is the paradise of the pleasure of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and leave the hell of this world

Part four

We are here to celebrate the legacy of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him), the greatest legacy

The best guidance is the Quran and the best guide is the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

There are two challenges that we need to face
Challenge of leadership
The lack of fiqh

To apply knowledge needs wisdom

Wisdom is the application of knowledge to the maximum good and the least harm

Even the greatest enemies of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him), could not help but to admire him

The sign of a Muslim was a just balance, at the heart of the balance was mercy

Islam belongs to all mankind

Sheikh Jihad Brown

Grand Mawlid 06
Part three

Abu Dhar Dar (May Allah be pleased with him) disseminated the knowledge of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) into Damascus

We know what we have benefited from them

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) marched into Mecca before its conquest, a dog had given birth, he (Peace and blessing be upon him) appointed a guard, so nobody would hurt the dog

He (Peace and blessing be upon him) sets the standard of human conduct

He (Peace and blessing be upon him) always put others first

How many of us will take this standard? Who will take a silent oath to do this today?

We must preserve the balance of justice. Who will raise this standard?

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) is like rain who revives the earth and his (Peace and blessing be upon him) nation (umma) are like rain

Courage is not that we have no fear of death but when everything seems futile but you might not get the benefit

The Prophets (Peace and blessing be upon him) remembrance was raised high by Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala, “We have raised your remembrance.” Q94.4

Whoever remembers Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala will remember the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

In shahadda we mention Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala then the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

There were a people who swore at Muslims, their children became Muslims, then the people who called him names now, their children will become Muslims

Many people are successful but no one could become supremely successful like him

We are free to praise Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala in any in this country

There is no greater gift to this world, other than him (Peace and blessing be upon him)

He (Peace and blessing be upon him) was (is) the key to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

We are proud to be the people of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

I hope that we will be gathered around the hawd

We should not be ashamed to celebrate his (Peace and blessing be upon him) birthday

They made a new category just for Habib Umar ibn Hafiz, at the airport (the airport reception showed him due respect), this doesn’t happen in Muslim countries

He (Sidi Fuad) was happy to leave the rulers, who think they are ruling but are really slaves.

Q+A
Part four

There are three opinions of the tashahud position of the finger (in the sitting position)
1. The hand can be still and not move
2. The forefinger points
3. The hand to be clentched into a fist and then the forefinger will point. This is the stronger position

The best way to teach children is to practice

It’s highly disliked to wear tight clothes (For anyone!)

The Sunna is enough for a man to keep a beard

Friday, August 25, 2006

Sheikh Sa'ad al Attas

Mawlid

It’s a great blessing to sit in the company of those who remember the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him)

The love of the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) is obligatory on those who love him

Man was ignorant of how to worship until the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) came

The time of the Prophet’s (Peace and blessings be upon him) birth there was a desperate need of light

It was the darkest period of man

The 600-700s was the worst period of the dark ages

He changed all the desires into the most praiseworthy of deeds, from stone into gold

He is the teacher of gratefulness

The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) light was stronger than the sun and the throne

This light still enlightens the people of the Sunna

It was recorded in the books of hadith

Mankind need his light more than ever

We have job to do by showing that humanity is still alive, by emulating his Sunna

There wouldn’t be any cartoons, if didn’t enlighten ourselves with the Sunna, we raise ourselves by following his Sunna

The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) was a gift to the Muslims

We have to give our hearts over and ask him (Peace and blessings be upon him) to transform them

He (Peace and blessings be upon him) is alive as he was

We have two options in our lives
1.Be those people who deviate from him and fear a painful punishment or fitna will be sent to you.
2. In Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him) there is a beautiful example to those who desire to meet Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

After the resurrection, we will go to the Prophetic basin (hawd) and the people who deviated will be prevented from it. An angel will be sent down and say to the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him), “You don’t know what they did after you.”

We have a trust to show the world who the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) is and we are in need of reading the shamil and adopting it

Sunna is also outside the prayer, everything has a place in the sunna

The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) told a man to eat with your right hand, the man refused and lost the ability to use his right hand

A man wanted to see a miracle by Abdulqadir Al Jilani, he stayed with him a week and then asked him did he get what you came for. He said he wanted to see a miracle Abdulqadir said, “Steadfastness is better than a miracle.”

The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) said, “When you enter your house, greet your house and your family and blessings in your house will increase.”

The Sunna no matter how small can make a big difference in your house

There was a companion who used think about the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) whilst he was at home and when we went out, the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) was the first person he would look for.

If we want to be with the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) we have to love him and show him be emulating his Sunna

We need to fill our lives with his Sunna

A man came to the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) and said that the Shariah has overcome him. The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) said, “See that your tongue is never dry from the remembrance of Allah.”

Do all the Sunna you can and persist even on a small portion

There is a hidden passage between the tongue and the heart

We should remember Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

The recitation of Dhalil al kharit in the houses of Morocco changed the state of Morocco

He (Peace and blessings be upon him) doesn’t need the prayers we send him but we need the reward.

Q+A
Part Three

Only the Shafi's prohibit women from visiting the graves, Hanafi, Maliki and Hanbali allow it

A non-Muslim tore up the Quran and now he has problems with his hands

Some non-Muslims respect the Quran better than the Muslims because we listen to the Quran but we don't do anything about it, that’s how we disrespect it

The only time the Quran can help us is when we follow it

If you read the last 10 ayahs of Sura Kalf it will help you get up for Fajr

Go to bed early at 11pm if that doesn’t work try 10pm, in the olden days Isha was the hardest prayer to do as Fajr is now

Someone shouldn't waste his or her time watching T.V.

Some scholars say that smoking is more haram than drinking

Chess is permitted in Shafi but prohibited in Hanafi

Don’t miss a prayer due to playing board games

There is no penalty if your drop the Quran, without intention

If you are trying to encourage someone to pray, show them how satisfied you are with the prayer

For women to travel in a group is not allowed in the Hanafi Madhab

The Imam cannot comment on something that will cause controversy in the Khutba

We look at things from or point of view but we don’t look at Allah's subhanu wa ta'ala.

Who would go spend time with their parents for a million pounds? If we spend time with our families, we will get more than that, without an end

It is not accepted to charms such as the Hand of Fatima

Due to rebellion in some times, they made the niqaab wajib, it depends on the place

Sidi Muhammad Isa Waley

It is blameworthy what you have done for yourself

Don't use your intellect for the use of the world

What are you doing to improve your state with Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Planning is of two kinds;
Planning for worldly things and planning for other worldly things

Ibn ata'llah (may Allah have mercy upon him) said, "We come from non existence and we move to non existence

You have to struggle in order to make progress

Advice

When you study a subject, keep a clear mind to why you are studying. You can be a master in anything but your knowledge could take you away from Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala is the goal of knowledge

All knowledge is a key to knowing Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Every act of worship is drawing closer to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Your knowledge is pointless when it doesn’t bring you closer to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Advice

As long as the Muslims say in this country, we have to try to overcome our problems because we are losing our religion piece by piece

If we lose our deen we will get Fitna

If you think your life is important, then hereafter is more important

We should practice and complete our deen, for our children

Love of the world will take you away from the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

Ask Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala for good health

Q+A
April Halaqa part one

Don’t stop doing Dhikr when you don’t feel the rewards, straightaway

The tribulations are what we have earned

There is an hadith that, “No one will kill a Muslim unless you kill each other.”
Now we are killing each other and they are killing us

Our disaster is our relations between each other

To get rid of bad character is fard (obligatory) that is what Sufism is about

If you deny the women access to the mosque, then they are going all over the place, why not let them in the Masjid

The Mawlid is a matter of love, The companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) celebrated the Mawlid in their hearts

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and his Messenger (peace and blessings upon him)
have declared war on the interest takers

Three things will help you attain the love of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

Yearning towards him
Increasing prayers upon him
Following his sunna

You have done nothing to attain Allah’s Subhanu wa Ta’ala blessings you should be thankful

What’s left behind when we leave the prayer? Nothing

Not being able to thank Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and realising that you cant thank him, that’s part of thanking Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Wednesday, August 09, 2006

Sheikh Sa'ad Al Attas

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “My love is incumbent on those who gather for my sake.”

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala mercy is on the Prophet(peace and blessings upon him), as in the ayat

We need to say prayers on him

When we do this, then the heart will be illuminated and the limbs will follow

Sincere Advice 2

The companions were looking at the enemy at a battle and one of them said, "How many of them are they how few we are." Khalid ibn walid (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) said, "How few they are and how many we are."

We have lost sight of were our true strength lies

If you notice your own existence, you shouldn't have an inclination to yourself

You shouldn't see yourself as anything

The true people are the ones in dire need but they prefer others

Ibn Ishaq (May Allah's Ta'ala mercy be with him) was a freed slave (writer of an important sira of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him))

Hasan al Basri (May Allah's Ta'ala mercy be with him) said, "The naafs commands to evil."

If you soul is not inclined to evil then it won't go towards it

The foundation of the spiritual path is going against the your own soul

Any event that you are in is an opportunity to get closer to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

If you lower your eyes when there are women present and you look down. This can bring you closer to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and sweetness will appear in your heart

If you dislike drink, don't dislike the drinker and if you see someone in a bad state make a dua for that person

Habib Ali was on a plane were a woman was dressed badly, the man was perturbed and Habib said, "Allah put you in this position, so you can praise him for the benefit of faith."

You need to know what the self wants

To follow your lower self, it will lead you to humiliation, in this world and in the next life

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, "Love of the world is the crux of all errors."

The companions didn't blame outside, they blamed themselves

In hadith the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, "When people will eat from the Muslims like people eat from a plate." "Will it because we will be few?" it was asked. "You will be many but you love the world and hate death."

You will be many but not of any substance, like the people who are leftover after a flood

We die to live the companions lived to die

Love comes from Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and then we return the love

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala only gives Deen to people he loves

The dunya is completely insignificant.

Sheikh Abdul aziz Ahmed Fredricks

Adab (Etiquette)

What is the meaning of the word a-d-b Adab?

Adab is that which you express good character

The word Adab (etiquette) is the word bda (begin) backwards

You start (bda) with manners (adab)

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “My Lord has given me etiquette.”

The vehicle for manners is Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) through the teaching of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Pray as you have seen me pray.” This the outward of the prayer

If you have adab with Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala you will reach him

The purpose of prayer is to build a relationship with your creator

The word to pray Salla (prayer) means to have a link to

White is better on the environment and it better to wear in life and death

Imam Ghazali (May Allah's Ta'ala mercy be with him) recommended white

The heart is the place of emotion

Inward manners is to have love

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Etiquette is all of religion.”

Manners is everything that is praiseworthy in terms of your actions

Adab is good character

Adab is to stop out of respect

Adab is respecting everyone who is greater than you

If you look down at people, you lose out

Show gentleness to those who are below you

When you at a person below you, look at the blessings that you have been given and look at them with the eye of mercy.

The meaning of the word adab is put something in its right place

Umar ibn Khattab (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) wrote with he left hand but did not eat with his left hand

Adab is say something correctly

Write with correct grammar.

He was in Tunisia, a drunken brother called him to his house and his religious brother refused to accept him as a Muslim, until he saw him eating.

What are the manners towards yourself?

Teach the naafs good and teach it to do good and leave bad

We are more in need of manners than knowledge

Imam Shafi (May Allah's Ta'ala mercy be with him) said, “Make adab your flour and knowledge your salt.”

If you have adab you will gain knowledge

Adab is the perfection of things

Sheikh Babikr / Sidi Asrar / Sheikh Waleed / Sheikh Muhammad al Yaqoubi

Islamophobia

(These notes were send to me by anon, May Allah reward them.)

Sheikh Babikr:

We need to think of the time we are living in, the present.

The Ummah is bleeding.

Innocent people are dying in Lebanon, Beirut, Afghanistan, Iraq etc. We are hurting.

These innocent people are a part of us linked through ‘La illaha illAllah Muhammadur RasulAllah’ [SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam].

The Prophet [SallAllahu Alaihi Wasalam] said we are one body, if one part of the body is hurting, it affects us all.

We cant question Allah. Truth has been laid out. We are the ones who will be questioned on the Day of Judgement.

We shouldn’t blame others. We should look within ourselves.

Every one of us is responsible. We should think ‘individually’ of what is happening.

We should live a life of peace and dignity. Live life the way Allah told the Prophet [SallAllahu Alaihi Wasalam] to live it.

Be generous and conduct yourself in the best way possible.

Don’t get involved in what doesn’t concern you.

Depend on Allah, turn to Allah, fear no one but Allah.

Live an honest and truthful life.

Mercy is closest to those who do good and are righteous.

Be grateful to Allah for allowing you to live in a country and being able to live Islam with dignity.

Brother Asrar [student of sacred knowledge in Syria]

The state of the Ummah won't be revived by attending these Conferences and these modern day concerts but by Uloom and by Muslims studying the Deen.

Sheikh Walead:

We have to look inwardly – this is the Prophetic Way.

One of our manuals should be the Shamaa’il.

We should be proactive and show people who the Prophet [SallAllahu Alaihi wasallam] was.
Said we are fortunate, we have Masjids.

There are none in Denmark.

Muslim areas are referred to as Ghettos. They don’t have freedom and rights in Denmark like we do here.

There is a deviation from our Fitrah. The earth is complaining and saying something is wrong.
Earthquakes have happened in Muslim lands like Pakistan, Tsunami in Indonesia. He mentioned the only earthquakes that happen in Europe are in Turkey. We need to contemplate on this.

Shaykh Muhammad al Yaqoubi

It is not easy to speak of “Islamophobia” when Israel is bombing civilians in Lebanon.

A lot of respected Ulema are worrying about Islam and this is making them compromise Islam.

If you want to help Allah by spreading this deen, leave it to Allah.

We should reflect. We should reflect on the state of Sayyiduna Bilal (RadiAllahu Anhu). He held onto the truth, not compromising, and the onlookers converted.

We want people to see us and see Islam embodied.

Show strength in your conviction – your strength in Islam. Show the best example in front of others.

Isnt Allah sufficient for His servants? Doesn’t He Protect His servants? We should not fear following the sunnah or praying 5 times a day.

Shaykh Ahmad Zarruq (RA) did a survey of people who performed the Isha and Fajr prayer in congregation. The finding was they were protected from calamities and despair.

There is no fear of terrorism if we follow the Ulema who are following RasulAllah [SallAllahu Alaihi Wasalam].

True practice of ones religion is not fanaticism its LOYALTY.

Establish the religion in your house and Allah will establish it in the society.

I need your commitment to practice the Sunnah e.g truthfulness, mercy to animals, kind to neighbours etc.

Sheikh Samir An Naas

Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him)
Part two

Shouldn’t the one who created him know who is the best creation? He (peace and blessings upon him) is the best of creation.

People are blocking Allah’s Subhanu wa Ta’ala knowledge

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “l am with Allah, the most ennobled of the first and the last, that is no boast.”

Prophethood started when Adam (upon him peace) was in clay

No other Prophet (upon them peace) says he is the best, of the nation of mankind

No other Prophet (upon them peace) claimed what he did
The glory of Islam is in excellent character

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “I have the most knowledgeable of you about Allah.”

Khalid ibn Walid (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) said, “The messenger is at the senders station.”

We should try to resurrect the sunna

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) prayed to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) was a Prophet whilst Adam (upon him peace) was between the sprit and the body

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Whoever resurrect my sunna, he truly loves me and will be with me in heaven.”

When he (peace and blessings upon him) was 10 years old, angels came and opened his chest and washed his heart and he said that he knew he was a Prophet.

You can differ on love but not on fiqh

People used to wait at his (peace and blessings upon him) door and follow him

You cannot dictate matters of love from the outside

Enrich people’s hearts with the love of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

Love cannot be dictation, (you have to understand love!)
To understand the issue from the inside, people who Love of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) should desire to visit him

Imam Tahir Anwar

Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him)
Part one

The Mawlid could be one of the reasons that cause to receive a drink from the pool, by the hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

We need to celebrate the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) every night

The more that we follow him the easier he will be able to recognise us, because of our actions

There is no legacy like the legacy of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

1400 years after his passing away, there are people who love him

We need to think, do we take this seriously, is it lip service or do we take it to heart

If we don’t do the actions outside the Masjid, then are who are we like?

We re-enforced the stereotypes in our reactions to the cartoons

We need to change the perception of the Muslim

Talk is cheap, there is no point agreeing in the Masjid and going out and doing wrong actions

The Prophet’s (peace and blessings upon him) Sunna is the pinnacle of perfection, as it is the Quran

During the era of Uthman ibn Affan (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him), Bilal (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) called the Athan, the companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) came out of their houses in tears.

Have you found a Christian that looks like Isa (Upon him peace)? Someone once called him Jesus (Upon him peace)

Dua is manners

We really need to change our actions

We need to educate the people around us

You don’t need to know English to smile

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) invited all individuals to Islam

We need to do our job of conveying the message of Islam

Everyone has a, “I came to England…” story.

Invite non-Muslims to Islam

Guidance comes from Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala, when we remove the ignorance

In the testification of faith, we negate everything except Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala then the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) follows directly after…

Don’t hate the country, you will not survive outside it

We need to use wisdom, we need to implement the Sunna, be a leader to you children, teach spouses

Some of the companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) we sat with the people of Constantinople, when some food fell on the floor, he went to pick it up. He was told to leave it, he replied, “Shall I leave the sunna for these people?”

Sincere Advice

( He asked the elders to move forward and said that in the gatherings of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him), the elders sat at the front.)

The definition of a companion (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) is a person who met the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

There is benefit in completing a text

This scholar focused on what people need

Some people gather books, other gather books for peoples needs

This is the ability to change people

The highest level of paradise is for the people who understand

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) had the most complete speech

When people had the ability to learn, they could summarise work

There are people who do things that don’t ask for money (religious duties)

Where are those people who adorn their hearts?

The word Ikhlas comes from a root to mean pure

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Sincerity is everything.”

Those who seek the countenance of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala means the glory of seeing Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala, after the Day of Judgement. “Ruiya” comes from wara, which means to see.

No ones worship will be accepted that’s not sincere, Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala will be pleased with someone who prays and pays their zakat

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala places sincerity in whoever heart he wills

Ways of testing your soul in learning, knowledge, to see if you can attain a great station with Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

You desire a place in people’s hearts (This is very bad.)

The worst type of Nifaq is to do actions when people are watching (when its so people see you do good action.)

When the people are mentioned he is happy

Takhli is to remove bad, tahali is to attain good actions

He (peace and blessings upon him) attained Human perfect but only Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala is absolutely perfect

Wayil (woe) is a valley in hell (as in the verse “Woe upon those who perform prayers.” Sura 107.4)

“With their prayers they are neglectful 107.5”, If the word was fi (in) instead of min (from) then we would be in trouble

The ones who are save are the one who have made their “A’kl” their amir

We need to fortify the walls of the heart

Satan submitted to the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) but didn’t become he follower.

Jafar As Sadiq (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) was riding on a horse and passed by a man who was drunk, reciting poetry. He heard what this man was saying and came down from his house and began to write it down, when asked why he did that. He said that this is from the manners of student

When 70 of the Quranic reciters were massacred, one of them who were killed said, “By the Lord of the Ka’ba, I have succeeded.”

Khalid ibn walid (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) didn’t have a hand span on his right leg, left leg, right arm, left arm, and chest without a wound on it, in the path of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala. He was sad that he didn’t die as a Martyr one his friends said, “The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) that you are the sword of Allah, how can you die?”

Avoid places of corruption.

Don’t put yourself in that place that would cause people to think badly of him, this is a mercy towards people

If you love someone, you don’t notice his or her faults

Backbiting is worse than Zina, because it is related to honour

To indicate with your eyes can be a sign of gheba (backbiting)

Our foundation duty as believers is to remove people from the darkness to the light

The means has to be justified and the end has to be justified

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said not to waste water even if you are at a riverbank

Muslims are people of principle and truth
The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) was always in deep thought, he was concerned about the people entering the deen

Saturday, June 24, 2006

Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah and Sheikh Hamza Yusuf

Between ignorance and extremism

For the sake of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala, I have come a long way

What does being Muslim mean?

How do we face the difficulties in this country? We submit to will of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

We have been able to build mosques and buildings here

We have safety and security

Remove, some the black clouds that have gathered

He hopes that we become people who love for the sake of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

The world’s eyes are upon us

We shouldn’t be afraid of answering the questions that are being asked

Islam is submission and we are a peaceful people. Salam is an abode of peace and from this peace is our deen

How do we retain our identity?
How do we create a Muslim environment?
Your house should be a Muslim house

Ismail (upon him peace) commanded his family to pray

Not everyone is against us

The Sheikh was impressed with some people who he has met, they are concerned about us

Their harm is not limited to themselves, they are affecting us as well

Our nation is a middle nation, we should be a balanced community

We need to be balanced and know that balance is hard to maintain

We should not be extreme or arrogant

Don’t make this deen hard

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) is a mercy to the worlds. How can we replicate it? By patience and piety and then it needs to be maintained

A mercy doesn’t change nor anger

He (peace and blessings be upon) is a mercy to animals

He said (peace and blessings be upon), “Be with the people with the best of character.”

Have you not seen the fruits it has different colours and tastes

There are changes from night to day, from darkness to light

The middle path is difficult, the naafs inclines to the extreme, doing too much
or too little

Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “ The deen is between doing too much and too little.”

This is what destroyed the people before us

Extremism comes from ignorance

We need to follow the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon) character.

The definition of the Prophets (peace and blessings be upon) character is mercy

What is distinct is his patience, tribulation from the people is normal. Be patient forgive and overlook.

He (peace and blessings be upon) called people to the deen. After Ta’if he (peace and blessings be upon) prayed for the people who hurt them. Mercy isn’t punishment

A female dog gave birth of the road whilst the army were passing. He (peace and blessings be upon) appointed a guard to protect the puppies. The dog was suckling her new born

At the conquest of Mecca he (peace and blessings be upon) said, “I hold no blame on you today and you are all give amnesty.”

Speak beautifully to people not just to Muslims but also to all humanity, treat people with the best of character

Recognise differences, if we don’t recognise them, we won’t be able to raise ourselves up

Part of Allah’s Subhanu wa Ta’ala creation is difference. Fruits come from the same source but they are different

You can see the diverse colour and Satan wants everything to be the same

We need to have a culture of tolerance

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) stood up when the dead body of Jewish man was being taken for burial. When asked why he stood up, he said (peace and blessings be upon), “Isn’t he a soul?”

Your Lord is one your father (Adam (upon him peace))is one, no Arab is better than a non-Arab except in Taqwa

This world is for the worshippers of Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

It is a right of the people to have human rights

Human dignity

Humans are like teeth on a comb

Call people with gentleness, debate with people in a beautiful way. There are good ways to talk to people

Lands belong to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and his servants, are the servants of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala, you can reside anywhere

Know that your blood and property are sacred. He (peace and blessings be upon) said at the final pilgrimage, he (peace and blessings be upon) encouraged men to treat their women well, he removed interest from himself (peace and blessings be upon peace and blessings be upon) and his uncle Abbas (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him). He (peace and blessings be upon) removed the blood writ

People have right and these should be represented. In the Muslim lands, other religions used to have their own courts, Jews had their own courts. Leave them to their own judgements but if you judge do it right

As long as breaches didn’t occur, non-Muslims were left alone

Being a good citizen is part of Islam

Accept other people and be good to people

Co-operate with non-Muslims when they do good but in war but in good behaviour

In a positive way not a negative way

Tolerance is a positive

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) said, “Love for your brother, what you love for yourself.” He (peace and blessings be upon) also said if he was called to an alliance he would’ve gone to it because it helped the weak and suppressed.

He (peace and blessings be upon) didn’t want to fight people in Mecca

We are looking for common factors, we desire good for each other
Our deen is tolerance

How can we hold onto our deen? Strongly

The Muslims are neither oppressors nor people who hurt each other

He (peace and blessings be upon) let Ethiopians dance in his Masjid, “Leave them, this is one of their practices.” He (peace and blessings be upon) said to Umar (May Allah be pleased with him)

We need to teach the prayer, in our houses

Ibn Tayyimma said, “Jihad is defined as all good actions.”

Stop oppressors, a Muslim lives in peace with others

A Muslim isn’t the angry one, he (peace and blessings be upon) advised a man to remain quiet

How do we realise this tolerance?
Return harm with good, good and bad are not the same
He (peace and blessings be upon) forgive and overlooked

A Jew wanted to see if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) had patience and when he saw it. The Jew said, “I saw that you had all these qualities except one.”

Islam is not monopoly for one nation, or for example we own it. Its for everyone

Ignorance is of two kinds one that someone is aware of and one that is compounded

Ignorance is the opposite of intelligence

They learn a little and to extremes, by being judgemental

Know the text and the principles

Fiqh is a craft it takes time and tools to acquire

If they study law, they can be a judge

The Abyssinian king was just and the deen entered that country

Patience is beautiful

It’s like the man who wrote the cartoons but he didn’t know who he was writing about

In these lands you should be like the first Muslims, call these people to virtue

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) prayed over the Abyssinian (may Allah’s mercy be with him).
We should be friendly they’ll help us and we should help them and over look their faults

The people who try to disgrace the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) is like trying to blow out the sun with your breath

None of the slander will get to him (peace and blessings be upon).

If people see us they should recognise the good comes from this religion with his (peace and blessings be upon) methodology, he (peace and blessings be upon) returned wrongs with good actions

We should behave like our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon)
