Habib Umar trans Sheikh Yahya Rhodus 18-07

Arif Al Marif (dowra notes part one)

Chapter; The Sufis will be in a good state until they accept the bad things

May Allah protect and establish the schools

So we can preserve the deen

Beneficial knowledge will be taught

Not for other reason except to get close to Allah Subhnau wa Ta'ala

The people who will have the most remorse on the day of the judgement are the ones who had the opportunity to study but didn’t

If you have the ability to study use it

Use it as a means to get closer to Allah Subhnau wa Ta'ala

And we ask him to purify our intentions

When the ignorant people sat they sat, because they sought knowledge for an ulterior motives and are not sincere

This person only is veiled and gains nothing except distance

If he has a bad opinion of people he could be cut off from blessings

We have to see the blessing of the people off our time and not expect too much

The reality is that if someone sees something outside that he doesn’t its because of the reality of the time that we are in

The one people who arrive to Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala are the ones who Allah Subhnau wa Ta'ala wishes to arrive to him

The early people had aspects of the legality and they had a pure human nature

A good opinion strengths his heart and he had a bad opinion it will be bad for him

There is benefit in having good opinion for a person but don’t help a person to do bad (evil)

Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala will give you help if you do this

If you have a bad opinion then this is bad manners, if the person who has a bad opinion is wrong when he right. As is illustrated when Osama ibn zaid (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) killed the person who said the Shahada

Don’t spy on your neighbours

The person who thinks he is better than others, will be the first to be destroyed

The Sahileen are those who see their deficiencies

The righteous are the ones who don’t belittle others

The people of truth don’t think about harming other people and don’t think about attaining something by taking it from others, this is brotherhood

We don’t mean everyone has to have the same madhab etc, in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) there were different opinions and he (peace and blessings upon him) confirmed them all

The one who says we have to get rid of the legal opinions (schools) is the one who hasn’t thought about it well

We have outward difference but we have mercy in our hearts and we are united under the shahada

Its incumbent to get together for the sake of Allah Subanu wa Ta'ala

To unify the Muslims is not to remove what differs but to arrange things to work together and have a mutual organisation and the respect each and help each other

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Indeed, the believer are like one body. If one part is in pain then the whole body is in pain.” Whoever who doesn’t feel the pain of the Muslims, he could be sick and he feels the pain of the tribulation of the Muslims

Just as you see the evil people spread drugs, tribalism, nationalism amongst the earth, its as if they want the Muslim body to be paralysed and not feel a thing

Its customary for them to rectify the wrong beliefs of a member

If we get people to differ this will bring people to differ and satan will enter

The Sufis will be in a good state until they accept the bad things

None of them will get the doors open if they differ and they will force apologies from others

Umar ibn Khattab ( May Allah be pleased with him ) said, “May Allah be merciful for the one who shows me my faults.”

As if a scorpion is on your shoulder or in your bed, our faults are like scorpion in our graves we should be grateful for someone who points out your faults

Umar (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) once asked Salman al Farsi (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) about his faults, who refused at first and when Umar (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) insisted, Salman (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) said you eat two loaves and change your clothes in the middle of the day. Umar (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) said that after today both these things will stop.

Where is the Mutual advice of today?

May Allah be merciful to persons who gives me a gift by showing me my faults

This is how Umar (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with him) used to gather the companions (May Allah Ta’ala be pleased with them) and ask then he used ask, if he could accept some dispensations, they said that they would correct him and he was very happy with them

If someone comes to you with fire in his heart and you must put out his fire with the water from your heart and don’t add fire from your heart

The sign of bad character is if we complain about others bad character, if we hide other faults and this is better for us

Its upon the sheikh to rebuke the students who rebuke people with his naafs, why didn’t you approach that person with your heart? Good and evil are not equal, repel evil with good

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “Show mercy you and will be shown mercy.”

If a brother who doesn’t accept an apology he gets a sin upon him

Its dangerous for a person not to accept an apology

Don’t have anything in your heart and a person who goes to someone and apologise that person will have his heart enlighten by Allah

The person who doesn’t accept the sin of his brother

The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said, “The person who doesn’t accept the excuse of a person. Will not come to my hawd, let him find another hawd.”

Sheikh Ibrahim Osi Efa

Advice and the Shamil Tirmdi

All of what humanity knows is not much

Not much of not much

Knowledge has its threshold – you have to pay your tax

The tax of knowledge is to teach

The word for man in Arabic Rajl comes from the word Rijl which means leg and a man is a person who is upright

Its upon you to travel to find knowledge

Ignorance is a lack of knowledge

People do what they do on the basis of knowledge or lack of

The religion revolves around people of knowledge

Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is not illiterate

He (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a society where literary was not valued, the Oral Prophet

The word katba (to write) means to gather

Iqra means to recite, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “What shall I recite?” (Not, I cannot recite) That what it means

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala to show him truth as truth and so he could follow it

We don’t take religion from non-believers

This affair is beyond us

We take from classical sources

We are a people of justice we don’t do what they do

Sending a rocket indiscriminately into people, where does this come from? Its like a plate of pork and saying Bismillah (You can't do that!)

It took the companions (may Allah be pleased be them) 15 years before they were given the order to fight

Classical Islam is trying to put yourself into a context

Our disease is love of the world, that’s why people do (things with) drugs

Wrench the world out of your heart

And you’ll love to die, so you could meet your Lord

The ultimate way to change our condition is by taking the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as an example

He (peace and blessings be upon him) is the cure for every ill in this society

The earth was folded up for him (peace and blessings be upon him) and he knew what would happen to us

There is no tongue better than the tongue of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Someone who doesn’t posses a thing can’t give it

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “O Allah make amongst the few.”

Some scholars would be so busy learning and reading, they would ask their wife’s to feed them

Imam Ahmed (May Allah be pleased with him) relates that he saw Allah in his dreams 99 times, if this is the amount he saw Allah, how may times did he see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

If we see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in our sleep and we shall see him in real life

Some people have seen him

Its about cleansing the heart until it manifests

Imam Ahmed (may Allah be pleased with him) saw Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and asked how do we approach you? Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala said, “By my book.” “With understanding or without?” Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala said, “With understanding or without.”

There are blessings even if you don’t understand

Angels search for groups of remembrance

The sham’il is looking at the essence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

We have to inculcate what he (peace and blessings be upon him) inculcated

(Why do) we speak about Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala what we don’t understand?

Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) said, "Our inability to know Allah is the correct understanding of him."

Without the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) we would all be on the wrong path

Imam Tirmidi (May Allah be pleased with him) was a student of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (may Allah be pleased with them)

When you don’t begin with bismillah the action is cut off, hacked off, (removed from blessing)

If you go to the Middle East know about classical or traditional Islam

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Isnad is from the Deen.”
(Isnad – chain of transmission going back to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him))

If there’s no chain of transmission, there’s no Deen

Then why would the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) take from Gibril (upon him peace)

When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed the lote tree, Gibril stayed back and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Is this what a friend does to a friend?” Gibril said, “If I was to go forward one iota, I would combust.” Where did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) go into the divine presence and then the prayer was given to him

Take good from the beautiful

Symmetry means a lack of change

Halq means physical creation from which comes from a state of non-existence

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “I don’t fear Shirk for you.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is created in order to remind, he is the greatest created act ever, every created act comes from him

It is as if the day of judgement is his day (peace and blessings be upon him)

A childs hair will turn grey, as the Quran tells us

If Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala showed some of his countenance to us, everything would be scorched

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the intermediary, you cannot get to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala except by the door of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

We have to understand language

He is the embodiment of perfect Character, (peace and blessings be upon him)

He was a walking Quran, the Quran is uncreated

When you see people walk like him (peace and blessings be upon him) then our situation will change, overnight

On the day of judgement he is Ahmed because Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala is the focus that day

Why wouldn’t you call him Syed?

The problems of this world are because of the people of the sunna and its our fault for letting people go astray

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “If you find good thank Allah, if you find other than that blame yourself.”

He (peace and blessings be upon him) could never say a bad word that’s why he used the word “other”

Don’t blame anyone but yourself

The world is a reflection of yourself

We will be raised on your own, driven to a place on your own, judged on your own
When we will driven it will be in silence and the only sound you’ll hear is the sound of the feet moving up and down (like the sound of clothes rustling)

All the eight people who described the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are children

The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) couldn’t look him in the face

Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) couldn’t describe the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) except by the word beauty

When the women saw Yusuf (upon him peace) they cut their hands, Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) said if they had seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) they would’ve cut out their hearts

12 questions where asked by the companions (May Allah be pleased with them) all of them where answered by the Quran

When bedions where in town, the companions (May Allah be pleased with them) would gather people to see the bedions, because they would ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) questions

If someone shows you love, how can you go against his word? How can you disobey?

Love isn’t on the tongue, its on the heart

We love him but we don’t want to meet him at the mizan (scales that will weigh up our good and bad actions). We want a light judgement

The bridge goes over hell (we have to go over hell to get to heaven)

One day, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was looking for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), she looked everywhere and found him in Baqi (graveyard). He was praying and in prostration he was saying, “My nation, my nation.” He kept repeating this. (He is concerned about us)

Take your knowledge from men not children

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was 6 foot tall and Umar ibn khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) was 8 foot tall

One of his miracle was that anyone who walked with him, didn’t seem taller than him

On the 12th Rabi al awall, his (peace and blessings be upon him) birthday was in the cave of Hira, when he got the revelation

Sura Hud and Sura Waqiah gave the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) white hairs

He is a universal Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so that he can be attractive to all nations

Ali ibn Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) used to shave his hair because he said that between each hair was a sin

He (peace and blessings be upon him) has a body beautiful, it was in perfect proportion

Manners of the Masjid

This world is a means to get closer to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is waiting for us on the other side

Glorify the sacred in Islam like the Masjid

Ibn Hajja mentions twenty intentions of going to the Masjid

Prepare yourself for entering the Masjid

One should be in a state of dhikr

This is a time to bring yourself into account

Ibn Mashish said, "I seek help from you, to you. I seek assistance from you, to you."

Make your intention: I have left my house for nothing except for the sake of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

And Ask: I ask you for protect from the fire and to enter heaven

Ibn Hajja said when you intent to leave for the Masjid you should lower your gaze

When you enter the Masjid ask Allah to forgive your sins

Ask him to open his doors of mercy

Pray 2 units of prayer - even before you sit

Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to stop people using the Masjid as a pathway, by entering one entrance and exiting by another

We have been ennobled by Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala to place our faces on the places that the companions walked, in the Masjid Nabi

Give salat on the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), give salams to those present, even if there is something there

Don't speak about worldly matters in the Masjid

Don't spit or walk in front of anyone

Remove filth

Don't bring children to the Masjid that are not toilet trained

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala is the owner of the Masjid, would you like someone to come into your house and disrespect it?

You can spit in the Masjid if its sand and you can easily hide it

People who enter the Masjid are the people of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and the people of Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) are the people of hadith

Keep the Masjid tidy

Its not permissible to bring weapons into the Masjid, in the Hanafi madhab its an act of apostasy to do so. It will instil fear into people who are in the Masjid

Its not permissible to kill anyone in the Masjid

The etiquettes of the Masjid are very high

The woman who used to clean the Masjid of the Prophet, died. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed over her grave and he saw her in a dream cleaning a Masjid in heaven

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala is the host of the house and we are the guests

Sheikh Saad Al Attas

Section from Qadi Iyad's As Shifa

From page 234.

A person with a strong intention will be rewarded with knowledge in accordance to his intention

Qadi Iyad wrote (the Shifa) to restore the love of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

It was for our sake (so we realise his rights)

The blossoming of the love for the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) is from the inward, not from the outward

This book was read whilst calamites befell the Muslims

When the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) is present, the doors of calamity are closed by Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

Reading the hadith is like sitting in the company of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him)

We can’t only rely on this, we need to implement what we have read

Honouring the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) is the greatest sign of god fearing and faith

Anyone who doesn’t respect the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) is destined for destruction

He (peace and blessing be upon him) will be a witness over the Umma

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “The rewards of my nation have been shown to me. The smallest good work was to remove something from the mosque.”

Someone shouldn't raise his voice over the voice of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), when you listen to his hadith, listen to the narration

The further we move away from the time of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), the more we need his love

The light of his love was passed from generation to generation

The help is still needed, so help the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), with the work he would’ve done

We have manners with everyone, not complete their words before they would

A true scholar is the one practices what he preaches

If we are distant from him (peace and blessing be upon him), he is distant from us

If we something without respecting the Sunna, the result would be a catastrophe, devoid of success

We address the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) with the greatest respect

The smaller the man becomes in the sight of people, the higher that he goes to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and vice versa

The companions (May Allah be pleased with them) spoke to the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) only when they had questions

The 13 questions of the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) are recorded in the Quran

The Quran states that the people would loose their works, if they speak badly to the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him)

The ignorant are those who don’t absorb or understand

When Abu bakr and Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) heard this, they lowered their voices until people couldn’t hear them

We should respect our scholars of our time

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala will make our actions worthless, if we disrespect the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him)

If someone shows disrespect to the words of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) then show them how to respect them

The Jews used to swear at the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) by mixing up the Arabic and Hebrew

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) gives us exactly what we need

The reward for a good deed for the Umma of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) is worth 10, (of the nations before us)

Anas ibn Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) gardens used to give fruit twice a year and he saw one hundred of his offspring, because the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) prayed for him (3 things, plenty of provision, offspring and forgiveness). He used to say, “I am waiting to be forgiven by Allah.”

We smile first and then they smile

They used to listen to him quietly with their heads bowed, in respect for him (peace and blessing be upon him)

In Hanafi fiqh, blood is filth and cannot be drunk.

You cannot take anything from Mecca or Medina unless you live there

To rub a Syed is permissible but shows disrespect

Khalid ibn walid (may Allah be pleased with him) lost a turban during a battle, he fought to get it back and lost a lot of men. The turban had some hairs of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) in it

A companion was captured and tortured, he was asked, “Would you rather that Muhammad be in your place and you at home?” He said, “No, by Allah I don’t wish that a thorn would touch the foot of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him)

Talha ibn Ubaydllah (may Allah be pleased with him) had eighty plus wounds on him (from protecting the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) at the battle of Uhud.)

There was once a woman who was shaking and trembling, the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “Be calm woman.” She was transformed to her normal state

Sheikh Abdullah fatah Al Ghuddah said, “Raising your voice indicates a lack of respect, when you talk to people.”

Greet youngsters and old people

If you act like a humble person, you will become humble

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) restored the humanity to the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and showed them that the world meant nothing, he was sent to give life to people

Respecting his (peace and blessing be upon him) house, is respecting him

Qadi Iyad (may Allah show him mercy) (how to make a dua),
1. praise Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala,
2. send prayers onto the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him),
3. ask for you need,
4. Prayers on the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) in the middle and in the end

Different opinions in Islam cater for different peoples in different places

You can follow a Madhab but not the dispensations that remove one from the circle of responsibility

Its an enormity to relate a fabricated hadith (unless it is to warn)

Ahmed ibn Hanbal said, “I prefer weak hadiths over the words of men.” (The words of men meant here are the scholars of his time)

Words came out of the mouth of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) like light, in a subtle gentle way

Imam Malik issued a fatwa for a Qadi to be jailed for relating a hadith standing up

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “Fatima is a part of me.”
(Anyone who harms her, harms him.)

Before the battle of khandaq, the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), “I will give the flag to someone Allah and his Messenger loves.” Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) wished it was he and stood on his tiptoes – to be noticed. Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) came in, he was not expected as he had an illness in his eye. The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) put some of his saliva into Ali’s eye and he could see better than he could before.

Once the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) was giving a Khutba and someone came to ask him a question, he came down from the Minbar, a chair was brought out and he answered all the questions that the man had. He only returned to the Khutba when it was clear that the man was satisfied.

There are two types of love: rational love (beginning) and true love (end)

He who is obedient to Allah and his Messenger will be with the Prophets, martyrs and the truthful

The reason why we ask Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala to bless the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), is because whatever we could say, it wouldn’t be enough

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) never ate raw onions or garlic, it ok to eat them cooked

Keep ones breath fresh because the angels take the Fatiha from the mouth

Ibn Ata’llah says the archers who deserted the flank at the battle of Uhud wanted to get the booty, so they could give it away in charity

Jihah al Ghifari broke the staff of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) during the caliphate of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). He died from a flesh-eating disease

Someone who takes a hadith and practices it, its as if they have a lock of hair of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him).

This is the inheritance of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) is knowledge.

We need to get that knowledge.

Dream Interpretation

(These are general rules but do not take them too seriously!)

True dreams for Prophets (upon them peace) are part of their revelation

Satan can appear to men in their dreams

(The following are what you see in a dream and then what it means)

Hold a rope in a dream - is like holding onto Deen

Sailing ship is a sign of God

Biting your fingers, you are showing sorrow for your sins

If you see a ruby you’ll get married or have a baby

An Elephant means an oppressive ruler

Get a stone in a dream – obtain forgiveness

Worries – forgiven sins

Cheating – problems with belief

Passing over a bridge – running to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Eating fruits – you’ll get married

Water pouring – calamities or marriage

Milk – Knowledge

Length of clothes – reflecting righteous

Umar ibn khatab (may Allah be pleased with him) was seen in a dream with a long thoub, which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) said it reflected his righteousness

Kufr – you are hiding something

Seasons and climates fit each other
- cold in cold, warm in warm
- season of food
- dry branches – beaten

a nightmare doesn’t always mean something bad

Repeatedly die – martyrdom
Broken teeth – relatives, top male, bottom female

Abbassid king saw a dream in which all his teeth fell out he called one interpreter who told him all his relatives would die, he was punished
The second interpreter said the king would outlive his relatives and he was rewarded

Falling into water – money

Flying – travel – get money

Enter prison – pay off debt

Hand cuffed – firm in Deen

Directions to paradise? Turn right, go straight

Step on a snake – growing farm

Beaten – get some good

Beaten on the back – debt pay off

Abu Jahl dreamed he was a Muslim it was for his son Ikhramia (may Allah be pleased with him)

The dream state starts at 30 years at the beginning of the night and towards the end it will happen soon

To see good dreams, clean yourself of the dunya

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “Wudu is a weapon of the Muslim.”

There should be no excuse to go to bed except with Wudu

If you see a bad dream keep it secret and it will not hurt you

Spit lightly over your left hand shoulder and seek refuge

Never make up a dream

Islamophobia part two

Its not easy for a speaker to come and speak to you, from Damascus

Two invasions are taking place, in Lebanon and Iraq, they are taking revenge on ordinary people

An American once asked him why do you hate us, we don’t hate you

The first country to recognise America was Morocco and they were the first to accept the state of Israel

We don’t kill non-Muslims, we call them to Islam

Killing people on the basis of their religious beliefs is against Islam

We do not stab in the back

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) banned Muslims from killing innocent people women, children, religious people

What do we have to offer the world except poverty and underdevelopment

Oil?

If we look at ourselves as Muslims we will find out that we have a lot to offer humanity. We are responsible to humanity and take them out of misguidance

This is the best time for us to work to spread Islam

We are better than others with the shadhda

The worst crime is to rebel against Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

His father saw the signs of victory, as people see the day, they are like (the scholars) mountains, unmoving

During the battle of the trench, he (peace and blessing be upon him) broke a rock, he saw victory

Islam will reach where the sun reaches, Islam will be in every home

Palestine will be liberated

Don’t worry about this Deen, Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala protects it

Some people who don’t have conviction in multi faith dialogues

Many people became Muslims because of what the conviction they saw in Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) after the opening of Mecca

Show your strengthen in conviction this is what will lead people to Islam

People fear Muslims, if they don’t fear (awe), then there is something wrong

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) said he was given five things that no one else was, victory, fear, the distance of one month, travelling

One months travelling includes all Arabia where he (peace and blessings be upon) passed away, Islam had already gone across Arabia

This means the whole world

Why do you expect to people to respect you, when you don’t show it in your behaviour

The true Muslim is the one who doesn’t harm anyone with his hand or his tongue

The cartoons benefited the Muslim because they didn’t know who the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) was

Insecurity is inside the people who go against Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

The major achievement of communism was to take people from Christianity

There is no religion that survived ideological attacks except Islam

With half a mile of the Umayyad masjid, there is the Christian and Jewish quarter (in Damascus)

We have a long history of tolerance

We have to look at ourselves and ask the question, if we are solving (problems)

We have a power behind us, which is stronger than anyone

It doesn’t matter if we or our children see it, Islam will be triumphant

The best Islam practiced is the religion that is practiced by the people who practice it

We have to call people back to the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon)

Secular Muslims are doing a lot of damage to Islam

When we go home we have to do something practical

We need to pray five times a day

Sidi Ahmed Zarruq (may Allahs mercy be with him) examined people who prayed Isha and Fajr in Jamma and no problems befell them. This is from an hadith.

Why don't people do surveys like this

True belief is based on knowledge

Islamophobia part one

Islam is not the property of anyone except Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala made the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala will protect the Deen of Islam

I am a good for nothing, compared to nothing

I have memorized the Quran and the Bible

Over 100,000 have taken Islam with me

I don’t talk about Islamophobia, I talk about Islam-a-luviya

I wish that Tony was here, so that he could take Islam, shahada form me

If we where protectors of Islam, then the Arabs would not be disgraced

Where’s the reverend? He’ll take shahada before he leaves (a Christian cleric gave a short talk before him)

We call ourselves Muslims and we don’t even follow the Sunna

If I had knowledge like the scholar then people(?) would be in trouble

Palestine belongs to the Muslim Umma

I love all Arabs because of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), even if I see a drunk Arab, I respect him

We have Islamophobia inside Islam, Arabs against Arabs, Arabs don’t go to Pakistani masjids and vice versa, there’s no unity amongst the Muslims

I am in love with Birmingham because the sisters cover their heads

How many of you have memorised the Quran? (not many put their hands up, when as low as one juz, only 5 people put their hands up), the future is bleak

How can you say you love Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and want to destroy his property?

Advice on Ramadhan

Bismillah

Assalamu alaykum

(Notes kindly provided by Arshad Mahmood, Jakallah khair)

If there are any mistakes in the notes, they are due to us, not the original dars of the shaykh and may Allah (subhanu wa ta'ala) forgive us for our shortcomings.

"Subhanallah, we have been doing these blessed Mawlids for 6 months now consistently, and I want you all to concentrate on the word "consistency" carefully for the next few weeks, particularly in Ramadhan.

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) was/is the most consistent person on the face of the earth, and he (Peace and blessing be upon him) said in a hadith, "Allah loves those acts which are consistent, although they may appear small and insignificant to you, but with Allah (Subhanu wa ta’ala), they are highly regarded and that is what really matters".

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) said that, “Ramadhan is such a blessed month, that if my Ummah understood its blessings properly, they would wish for this month to be all year round.” This is a month in which we can practise consistency and implement it after Ramadhan too, inshallah.

Ramadhan is surely a blessed month and Allah (Subhanu wa ta’ala) wants to forgive you by the end of this blessed month, and that is why he is offering you opportunity after opportunity in this month, just look carefully at the opportunities within it "5 times Salah with Jama’at, Lailatul Qadr which is better than 1 thousand months, Taraweeh prayers, Suhur, Iftaar, Itikaaf in the Masjid, the multiplication of rewards, the Nawafil acts getting elevated to status of Fard in terms of reward, the reward for Fard being multiplied.

Shaykh also mentioned that in Ramadhan Allah (Subhanu wa ta’ala) provides you opportunities to become people of Allah. Allah (Subhanu wa ta’ala) has placed the five pillars of Islam within this month.

1) Tawheed - The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) said that, “Repeat the recitation of the shahada in abundance in Ramadhan”.

2) Salah - 20 rakaat nafl is equal to 20 rakaat faraid in Ramadhan. Then on top of that you have the Taraweeh prayer.

3) Fasting - The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that the reward of fast is paradise.....according to the Hadith Qudsi by Allah(Subhanu wa ta’ala)

4) Zakah - The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) was more generous in the month of Ramadhan. He was generous anyway, so you can’t imagine him being more generous. Sadaqah in the month of Ramadhan is equal to giving Zakah.

5) Hajj - The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) said that the one who makes Umrah in the month of Ramadan, it is as he did Hajj with me.

The shaykh also mentioned that we should “increase in our istighfaar”, “increase in Quran recitation”, “increase in Salawat upon the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him)” and try to do “Qiyamul Lail (staying up at nights)”.

And once you do become the people of Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala, you won’t talk about things that have been made a duty upon you as Muslims, but you will talk about privileges of being Muslims. You will say “what a privilege it is to be a Muslim”. You will remove something harmful in someone’s way, you will not think that it’s my duty, but you will feel privileged to do so. Once you become people of Allah Subhanu wa ta’la, you will see things that a normal person won’t see.

The sheikh mentioned the story of Imam Nawawi (May Allahs mercy be with me) that when he was 7 years old. He woke up at night and started waking everyone up and shouted “what is this light everywhere?” and from that his father realised that it was Laila Tul Qadr that night.

Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala also made all those things Haram upon you while fasting (some haram in any circumstances but some specifically in Ramadhan), which are the barriers to attaining his love and pleasure (food, water, backbiting, slandering, lying, see how Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala has put it on a plate for you in this blessed month.

Spend this month wisely, like the people of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala do. If you have holidays from work, then take them in this month because this is the holiday of the people of Allah. Forget ibiza, costa dela , the people of Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala take holidays from the Duniya in Ramadhan and spend this month in giving it its dues.

But most importantly, take the month of Ramadhan with you, after Ramadhan, and keep up these actions, because that’s the whole point.

One who can do 20 Rakats in Ramadhan Taraweeh prayers, can do 20 rakats nawafil daily after Ramadhan.
One who can increase his recitation of the Quran in Ramadhan, can continue it after Ramadhan too.
One who can control the eyes, ears, mouth, limbs inside Ramadhan, can surely do so after Ramadhan.
One who can fast for 29/30 days in Ramadhan, can surely , fast the fasting of Shawaal, Ashura etc etc.

Oh believers, don’t let this month slip without realising the purpose of it, become people of Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala, increase your charity, increase your smiling at others, increase your love for children, elders, neighbours, community.
Don’t just focus on the Faraid in this month, focus on the Sunnah too, focus on the Nawafil too.

May Allah (Subhanu wa ta’ala) forgive us all. Ameen

Habib Umar Ibn Hafiz / Sheikh Ibrahim Osi efa

Sheikh Ibrahim Osi efa

I cannot introduce the one who is introduced

The word imtthalun (the Arabic root means example and it also indicates to internal opening, a change, Sheikh Ibrahim compares Habib Umar to this word)

I could speak about those who serve him, his people, his grandfather. I could speak about his family. (He traced his linage back to the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him))

Allah is the one who raises and debases

They say it’s a family affair

Have love for the family

Have love for this man

Habib Umar ibn Hafiz
Mawlid

We have gathered today because we love Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) and his Messenger (Peace and blessings be upon him)

Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) makes things great and the greatest is the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him)

The Companions (May Allah be pleased with them) sat together, The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) asked them why they where sat. They said to remember Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala), The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) said, “ I didn’t ask you, to doubt you but I was ordered to sit in gathering such as this.” This is a place where mercy descends

Thank Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and purify your intentions

No one sends blessings on him (Peace and blessings be upon him) except that Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala raises us and he (Peace and blessings be upon him) returns them

Imagine the greatness of the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him), he is sent blessing by millions of people, angels and so forth

Imagine how great he (Peace and blessings be upon him) is where he lead all the Prophets (upon them peace) in prayer and later returned to his bed

How great his soul is (Peace and blessings be upon him) when he can return our blessings wherever we are

This great soul dwelled in a blessed body (Peace and blessings be upon him)

In 23 years he gave all of mankind a message, he guided us completely

This inheritance allows us to behold the creation

Souls without their potion of this inheritance are like people who turn back their backs on the signs from Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala)

It doesn’t matter what people own of the world, unless they know Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

Creation only serves a purpose towards creation

We should use it for good

If we had insight we would prefer what Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala would prefer

After the Gazwa Hunian, the people who entered Islam were given money and things to strengthen them, some of the Ansar (May Allah be pleased with them) where unhappy about not receiving some booty. When he (Peace and blessings be upon him) heard this, he (Peace and blessings be upon him) called the Ansar and Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with them) and asked them, “What is this news that has reached me?” The Ansar (May Allah be pleased with them) where ashamed and became silent, he (Peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this three times, then said, “Didn’t I reach you and guide you, didn’t Allah guide you through me?” “Oh, yes.” The blessing is all from Allah (Subhanu wa Ta’ala) and his Messenger (Peace and blessings be upon him). “Oh people of Ansar, Are you sad about these things? They will leave with these things and you will leave with me. If its wasn’t for the migration I would be an Ansar and that I would go the way the Ansar would go, if others went another way, I would go with the Ansar.” (Peace and blessings be upon him).
They wept until their beards were wet.

Let us return to our homes with the Sunna of the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him)

Get your inheritance of the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him)

The shop is always open

In these gathering the hearts are purified, resolve is taken, take guidance to inspire, this is a summary of inheritance
Humble yourself to it and who want to get the most precious thing the gift of the Prophets (Peace and blessings be upon him) inheritance

Habib Umar ibn Hafiz

Grand Mawlid
Part Seven

He asked for forgiveness from Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala for himself and everyone

When the people wanted to ask for forgiveness, all they had to do is walk towards the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

By sitting here, there is no veil between us and the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) despite the gap in time

The one who chose him, gave him his rank and only he knows what his rank is

Not a single person who gives him a greeting except he returns it

You are the manifest outward peace and its the only place you can get peace in this world

Our creator is one, learn how to have a manners with everything

We still find fruits from the events of the past. i.e. Abbasids

When one of the companions did something for the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) he asked what he wanted. The companion said he wanted the Prophets (Peace and blessing be upon him) companion in heaven

The greatest of the people are the Muslims who will come to the hawd, inshallah

Sheikh Habib Ali Al Jifri

Grand Mawlid
Part Six

Blessings and peace upon the most beautiful Blessings and peace upon the most beautiful

At a time when beauty is in short supply, humanity is in dire need of beauty

At a time, we celebrate the birth of the manifest beauty

At a time, when the Umma feel oppressed, we can’t feel defeated

The eye of the poet lamented, because desired to be sparrow, so he could get closer to the Prophets (Peace and blessing be upon him) grave.

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) said, people are like mines, some have gold, some have other things. The best in ignorance is the best in religion

Can you imagine the harshness of the state of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) (after being rejected by the people of Ta’if)

Some people rested on a wall and saw the state of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) and where moved by the ties of kinship

The worst of the people of Ta’if, made two lines and they kicked, stoned and punched him (Peace and blessing be upon him). Whenever he (Peace and blessing be upon him) would fall, they would pick him (Peace and blessing be upon him) up and push him forward. They wouldn’t give him (Peace and blessing be upon him) any time to rest

Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) said he never say anyone who loved a man like they love the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) honoured him by saying that anyone who entered the house of Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) is safe, because his status was low at that time

What changed Ikrimah ibn Abu Jahl (may Allah be pleased with him) to become a person who died for Islam, weeks after entering it. He was bleeding on the battlefield and was thirsty, closed his lips and wished his brother to drink.

Imam Ahmed Rafi went to Hajj with 90,000 people, he saw a wounded dog and nursed it for 3 days, even though the spit of the dog is najis and it would only be allowed in the Maliki Madhab

Habib Umars Sheikh Abdulqadir As Saqaf, was about to leave in a car, a man came to kiss and shake his hand. Then he closed to door and then came back and talked to him for five minutes(through the window), after that he went. The Sheikh said that when the man closed to door of the car, he closed it on his index finger. (He didn't say anything to that man, all the time he was speaking to him.)

There was man who killed a scholar who had a son, the son grew up to become a scholar and when the man repented, he called one of the students of the son. When the student realised he put the phone down and told scholar (son), he said, “It is better that we see his Islam, rather than we our rights from him.”

Sheikh Ahmed Tijani / Sidi Moez Masud

Grand Mawlid 06
Part five

Sheikh Ahmed Tijani

Are you wahabis? Say Ya Rasul Allah!

If you insult Abdul Qadir Jilani, you salat is not valid

He (Peace and blessing be upon him) was the first creation and will be the first recreated

Everyone who came here today, came on the invitation of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

Sidi Moez Masud

How can you enjoy life when he (Allah) has given you the ability to enjoy

I wanted to enjoy myself, was there hope for me?
Don’t despair of the mercy of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

I was looking for Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

I was looking for the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

I wasted time that I should’ve given to Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala

People do drugs to get high but they can get it in the deen

On the day of judgement we will be given back what we have spent

The paradise of this world is the paradise of the pleasure of Allah Subhanu wa Ta’ala and leave the hell of this world

Sidi Yusuf Islam

Grand Mawlid 06
Part four

We are here to celebrate the legacy of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him), the greatest legacy

The best guidance is the Quran and the best guide is the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him)

There are two challenges that we need to face
Challenge of leadership
The lack of fiqh

To apply knowledge needs wisdom

Wisdom is the application of knowledge to the maximum good and the least harm

Even the greatest enemies of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him), could not help but to admire him

The sign of a Muslim was a just balance, at the heart of the balance was mercy

Islam belongs to all mankind

Sheikh Jihad Brown

Grand Mawlid 06
Part three

Abu Dhar Dar (May Allah be pleased with him) disseminated the knowledge of the Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) into Damascus

We know what we have benefited from them

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) marched into Mecca before its conquest, a dog had given birth, he (Peace and blessing be upon him) appointed a guard, so nobody would hurt the dog

He (Peace and blessing be upon him) sets the standard of human conduct

He (Peace and blessing be upon him) always put others first

How many of us will take this standard? Who will take a silent oath to do this today?

We must preserve the balance of justice. Who will raise this standard?

The Prophet (Peace and blessing be upon him) is like rain who revives the earth and his (Peace and blessing be upon him) nation (umma) are like rain

Courage is not that we have no fear of death but when everything seems futile but you might not get the benefit
