These are some tips for you to consider when faced by Satan.
So take note because you might need some of these!
To get rid of him Say أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
It is to be said after a bad dream
If angered made wudu or a have bath!
Never listen to a bad thought about someone or an action.
Attend prayer, read Quran and dhikr sessions. Play/read
Surah Baqarah and Yasin in ones house.
Avoid pride and envy. Be happy with Allah and avoid doubts.
If doubts occur, ask a scholar.
One of satans tricks is causing married couples to fight for
no reason. Half of your deen is not going to be given to you on a plate. It is
about biting your lip, preferring the other and backing down.
Despair is perhaps the trickiest of satans tricks. So be
hopeful of Allah (the Exalted) not creation.
One satans tricks is when you think you are alright and do
not need to repent. There is nothing wrong with me syndrome. Measure yourself
as the greatest in character and you will always fall short.
Satan's tricks in reading books are make sure you do not
finish anything. Therefore, you read a few pages of this book and a few pages
of that. Yet you do not finish anything. Get a book, finish it to the end and
then start another.
Ones of Satan's tricks are to mislead you from an obligatory
action to an extra action. Both are good but the obligation is better but he
beautifies the extra action. Therefore, you leave the obligation of which you
were taxed and went for the extra action that you are not going to be asked
about. This is one the main problems with Muslims today that they do extra
actions and avoids the obligations.
When you get two thoughts to do something good then do the
first because that is from Allah and the second is from Satan. If you get two
thoughts about giving charity then do the first.
Sidi Abu Hassan Al-Shadhali (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “One night
I recited ‘Say: I seek refuge by the Lord of people...’ until His
speech, ‘from the evil of the sneaking whisperings.’ So it was said to
me about evil whisperings: whisperings that come between you and your beloved so
you forget subtle blessings and mention your sinful actions to you. They rarely
come from the right and mostly come from the left. So balance it by good
opinion of Allah the Exalted and His Messenger (may Allah bestow peace and
blessings upon him) and not bad opinion of Allah and His Messenger (may Allah
bestow peace and blessings upon him). So heed the warning of this door, as much
of creation from among the abstainers, worshipers, and people of exertion and
struggle have been taken by it.” (Number 54).
Know evil thoughts come from the left side or are heard from the left. Know that Satan does not always incite to evil. He can incite to a lesser good to make you waste your time.
He pulls you gradually in not all of sudden. So there is a
gradual work on someone until one commits haram. Like the person not committing
fornication because it is ugly but drinking thinking it less then he commits
the illegal fornication. Beware of small sins leading to big sins.
وَلاَ تَتَّبِعُواْ خُطُوَاتِ ٱلشَّيْطَانِ إِنَّهُ
لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
"Do not follow the footsteps
of satan because he is an open foe to you." (Al-Anam 6:142)
Know the tricks of satan are weak
إِنَّ كَيْدَ ٱلشَّيْطَانِ كَانَ ضَعِيفا
His tricks are weak (Nisa 4:76)
Satan only comes out when you are about to commit a sin then
he whispers. That annoyance to the sin is your nafs. Know he only comes when he
sees that you have a desire to commit a sin! That is the difference between the
whispering of the nafs and Satan.
Satans post Ramadan trick is everything is Halal! Nope, what
is haram in Ramadan is still haram outside Ramadan (except eating etc)
Another trick of satan for the student of knowledge is
getting extra books on the same subject and neglecting to study the book they
are learning with a teacher. The other books distract the student from what he
should be learning. So just keep studying the book which one is learning with a
teacher.
If you satan in a dream then recite Ayah Al-Kursi as
protection.
Know that the strongest thing is your nafs and that does not
go easily without spiritual training.
إنَّ الشَّيْطانَ لَكُمْ عَدُوّ فـاتَّـخِذُوهُ عَدُوّاً
"Satan is an enemy to you so
treat him like an enemy."
(Quran: Fatir 35:6)
You know satan is your enemy so
treat him like an enemy by being constantly on guard for him.
