August splendour
When we talk about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) we are not talking about a normal person
His birth was a magnificent occasion and event
He was born on the 12th of Rabi Al-awawl, according to the dominant opinion
Just before his passing away
He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Allah gave one of His servants a choice between this world and what He has with Him, and that servant chose what Allah has with Him." Abu Bakr cried, the companions asked, “Why are you crying sheikh?” Then Abu Bakr said, “Your world, your world by our mothers and fathers.”
Everyone will taste death
What counts is what we do in-between birth and death is fill it good actions
What pleases Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala? What the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought
Abu Bakr said, “Our ignorance of Allah is our knowledge of him.”
We are ignorant of who he is
A poet once said, “My word raise and my words debase.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “That’s Allah – you cant do that.”
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon) described Owais Al-Qarni (may Allah be pleased with him), dishelved, dusty, children would throw rocks at him etc
He (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded the companions to ask him for supplication (dua)
Owais was not a companion
When groups would come to Hajj from Yemen they would ask for him until one time, they asked a group who said that there was no else in their group except someone looking after their horses. Umar and Ali (may Allah ta’ala be pleased with them) found him and they asked him for dua, Owais cried and asked why because they were instructed to by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). After he made supplication he said, “All you knew about him was his shadow.” They agreed
He (peace and blessings upon him) had no shadow
Every persons rank depends on their connect to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
All the Prophets (upon them peace) where prophets in the pre-eternal knowledge
When Adam (upon him peace) sinned and asked for forgiveness he asked “By the Truth of Muhammad.” Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala asked him, “How do you know about Muhammad?” He said he gazed upon the throne and I saw there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. I saw on every cloud the name Muhammad, I entered Heaven I saw his name on every palace, in every room, on every tree, every angel and on the great tree (that shades heaven) every leaf had his name written on it.
So make much remembrance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)
This is the contract of the Prophets (upon them peace)
That oath involves mentioning the name Muhammad
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “If Musa was alive he would have to follow me.”
He doesn’t boast
There is no disease in his heart
He said, “I am the master of humanity and I don’t boast.”
This is the messenger that we have been given
When you are asked in the grave, what do you saw about this man? You should be proud to Muhammad – in a good sense because of our link to him
If it wasn’t for him, the world would be nothing
He is our master, our Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)
He is the one who gives good news
The human being is with one he loves
We should inculcate love for him
The arabs say that someone who has lots of names, indicates love
Imam Tirmidi (may Allah show him mercy) said that he has innumerable names
The name Muhammad means the object of intense praise
Nabi Yahya (upon him peace) name was new, nobody had it before him
No one who has his name, without there being barakat there
Ahmed means the one who praises and Muhammad means the one who is praised
His will be the standard of praise on the day of judgement
You cannot reach Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala without him
Imam Qasatlani said this is until the end of time
The leader of the messengers
To reach Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala by him, you have to know him
The people of heaven will call him Abdul-karim and the people of hell will call him Abdul-Jabar
Angels and Jinn will call him different names according to what they know about him
Aisha (may Allah Subhanu wa ta’ala be pleased with her) said, “If the women of Yusuf had seen him, they would’ve preferred to cut their hearts out.”
Imam Qurtubi said that is people had seen the true beauty of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) they would’ve died
Beauty can kill
When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Jibril he fainted, what about him? Why didn’t Jibril ask to see him
Beauty mixed with majesty
The companions where not able to look at him
If you gazed upon him forehead, it was if light was coming out of his head
Children describe him – they could look at him
Yusuf An-Nabani said he has perfection
Imam Ghazali said the outward is an indication for the inward
We don’t have access to the inward form
He was there at the beginning, that’s why he described the beginning
We should stand back and admire
There are people who can’t turn their backs to medina, people who cry when he is mentioned
Habib Ali told him a story about a scholar who went to Medina, he wa asked to bring back some soil. On the plane, he heard a sound and found that it was coming from his bag, he found that the soil was crying. So he asked the soil why are you crying he said you have taken me from medina and it didn’t stop crying until he swore to take it back
Like the tree his used to lean on, he gave it the choice, the world or the afterlife – it choose the afterlife
These are in inanimate things (what about us?)
