Simple Daily Supplications (revised)

When entering the toilet


Enter with the left leg first and say:

اَللَّهُمْ إِنّيِ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبْثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ


Allahuma Inni ‘Audhu bika min al-Khubuthi wa l'khabaith


O’Allah I seek refuge in you from filth and evil spirits





When leaving the toilet


Leaving with the right leg first and say:


اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِيْ أَذْهَبَ عَنَي الْأَذَى وَ عَافَانِي

Al-Hamdulillahi l-ladhi adhaba ‘anni l-adha wa ‘afani

All praise is Allah’s who has taken harmful things from me and given me comfort.



When waking up

اَلحَمدُ للهِ الّذِي أَحيَانَا بَعدَمَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيهِ النُّشُور


Al-Hamdulillahi l-ladhi ahyna b’adama amatana wa ilyhi n-nashour

All praise is Allah’s who gave us life after he gave us death and to Him is the return



When going to sleep


اَللَّهَمَّ بِاسمِكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحيىَ

Allahumma bismika amutu wa ahyaa

O’Allah, in your name I die and in your name I live



Travelling dua/ Dua Safar

سُبْحٰنَ   الَّذِيْ سَخَّرَ لَنَا  هٰذَا  وَ مَا  كُنَّا  لَهٗ  مُقْرِنِيْنَ     وَ اِنَّآ  اِلٰى  رَبِنَّا لَمُنْقَلِبُوْنَ

Subhan naladhi sakhara lana hada wa ma kuna luu muqrinin wa inna ila rabnna lamuqalabun

Praised be He who subjugated this to us as we would be able ourselves and to our Lord is our return. (Quran: Sura Al-Zukhruf 43:13-14.)

When leaving the house

آمَنتُ بِاللهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ    بِسْمِ اللهِ

وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إلَا بِاللهِ الْعَلِىِّ الَعَظِيْمِ

Bismillah; amantu billah; tawkaltu ‘ala Allah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illah billah il-‘Ali l-‘Azeem

In the name of Allah; I believe in Allah; I rely on Allah; there is no strength or might except in Allah, the exalted, the greatest.





When entering the house

اَلْلَّهُمَّ إِنَّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ الْمَوْلَجِ وَ خَيْرَ الْمَخْرَج بِسْمِ اللهِ وَلَجْنَا وَ بِسْمِ اللهِ خَرَجْنَا وَ عَلَى اللهِ رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا

Allahuma inni asaluka khair l-maolaji wa khair l-makhraj; bismillah wa lajna wa bismillah kharajna wa ‘al l-lallahi rabbina tawakkalna


O’Allah I ask you for the best exit; the best entrance; in your name I return; in your name I leave and upon Allah, our Sustainer, we rely.



When eating



Eat with the right hand and say:


بِسمِ اللهِ وَ عَلَى بَرَكَتِ اللهِ


Bismillah wa ‘ala barakatillahi


In the name of Allah and upon the blessing of Allah



If forgotten say:

بِسمِ اللهِ اَوَّلَه وَ اَخِرَه


Bismillahi aw-walahu wa akhir

In the name of Allah at the beginning and the end
